I quit the torrent download and used mIRC (thanks to BoC) and it only took 3 hours. It's downloaded by I have NO IDEA what to do now. I unzipped it and its just a bunch of files..nothing that says install. Help?

Same here. It seems though that from last night's computer lesson with BoC that I am going to have to burn them onto 3 CDs for some reason (their aer 3 seperate CD folders). But I don't see why I would need to. AHHH I jsut want to play this game!

Well I got winrar and it made about half the files in all 3 CDs extractable but now there are files named "rld-d3a.r30" that still have that "choose a program" icon on it.

There should be a bunch of files that say r01 or 000 or soemthing like that. Open the first one (with the ending r01, 000, or rar) and highlight everthing and then extract it to a folder and the rest will come out with it thanks to winrar archiving

Get winrar and nero
unzip the .rar file that contains a .bin and .cue file
then open nero and file... burn image select the directory and select the .cue file.

THis game makes me cry. Such potential and hype only to fall flat and be boring as all hell.
AMAZING graphics and all, but the simple dumbed-down run and gun simply doesn't cut it anymore. I need innovation and great gameplay to hold my attention, not just jaw-dropping graphics (nobody remembers games for their graphics because the industry keeps one-upping itself. We remember games for being fresh and fun to play). I just found it no fun to keep switching between my flashlight and shooting in the dark.
I am NOT impressed in the least.

i dont know, i guess for me i'm actually sort of sick of innovation. i hated the half life single player because of it's innovation where i wandered around with a crowbar for like an hour. Doom is exactly what i wanted, me and a gun point shoot go here go there. no unreal 2 25 min cut sequences, just killing. so i'm a satisfied customer, (btw yeah mIrc was better i got the thing in a few hours)

You don't have to burn a thing. Google search "Daemon Tools" and download the program of the same name. Once you have it, right click it (in your toolbar) and select "Virtual Cd Rom"; "Device 0 [E]" and then "mount driver". It will ask you what to mount. Assuming you downloaded from a proper source, you will see a ".cue" file. Double click it.
Now you may be asking yourself: "What in the hell?". Simple: The program "fools" your PC into thinking the CD is loaded and all.
You don't have to burn and go thru the whole switching process, etc. Try it out. I HIGHLY advise it. |

I have been playing it, as was stated you need to use the torch a lot, but its all good, the only thing is it has some fairly nasty system requirements, i more than meet the minimum specs and it lags a little in 800x600

what are you gonna do??? Unsolder all the connection's of your current chip, rmeove it, get a new chip (no chip cna run doom 3 anyways) and try and make it fit and solder it back up??

Maybe I will...but you just wait BLS...you just wait. Halo 2 has just had so much time, so many delays, so much time to make, I'm sure it will make an absolutely amazing game.
A reliable website that gives ratings for games is www.gamespot.com they give pretty accurate scores. Doom 3 got an 8.8 on P.C. Usually the other consoles are quite close to eachother in scores. Even the first Halo got a 9.7. |

Doom III took about 4 years to make i belive. Halo 2's Multiplayer will no doubt be better than DOOM III's but no way will Bungie be able to beat the erie atomosphere ID has created with DOOM III.

Xbox will hardly be able to run Doom III, the lighting is far to complex, and the character models are simply stunning. Xbox dosent have enough ram to pull the enviorments off.

i read somewhere that they put doom3 on an xbox and it laged like an old woman crossing the street
and on halo 2, it better be a lot more interesting than the first as that was repedative as hell, and looked simple (the models)
the only reason it would have gooten such a good score is because it is a CONSOLE game, and reguardless of whatever happens, people always rate console games better than PC games |

people who think graphics are everything perpetuate games that are a waste of money
the last thing i was waiting for was deus ex 2
deus ex 1 was an awesome game, it looked shit, it had a good story, it took in the reagion of 50 hours to finish
deus ex 2 looked pretty, it had an incomplete, short storyline, perpetuated by the fact that it can be played from start to end in 1 day (or 13 hours)
i prefer old games that look totally shit and play well, than the horde of new games that are being released the look really pretty, but are as short as all fuck

Get it off mIRC. It is much faster. On Torrent, it had about 76 hours to finish. Off mIRC it only had 3!

Yeh it says that in reality in dosne ttake near that long, took me like 2 hrs.

In cd1 extract the files in "rld-d3a" to the cd1 directory then run nero, file, burn image and goto the cd1 directory, select the only file that is shown.
Burn
do the same thing for CD2 but extract the files in "rld-d3b"
and for CD3 extract the files in "rld-d3c"
use the keygen found in the keygen folder to generate a keygen, use that when your asked for a cd key during installtion.
After you've installed the game open cd one and copy the "doom3.exe" that is located in the cracks folder to the doom3 directory, it will ask you if you wish to overwrite, click yes.
then play.
