pickup suggestions?

ok i have a semi decent Epiphone Goth SG, and i cant afford a new guitar, yet i have saved up $200 to replace the pickups, but i dont know whats best. my style is like, Chimaira-ish heavy metal, i guess the best way to describe it is metalcore. im looking to replace both, but i also wouldnt mind only replacing one if there is a great pickup you would recommend that is to expensive to buy 2 of. so basically, all im saying is, suggest to me the best pickup you know of that i could buy for $200. thanks for ur time

A set of EMG work great for Epiphone's, plus you should be able to get ZW set ( EMG 81/85 ) for about $160 new. I have that set in my Gothic Exploror and it's not bad.

If that body's Mahogany a Seymour Duncan JB will sound great, if its alder then EMG's would be a reasonable choice.

$200 can get you alot..

All the goths are made of mohogany, so a JB will sound good too.

whereever is selling a pair of emg's for a little over $200 is ripping you off. unless of course you're talking about non u.s. dollars.

i'd personally save for a better halfstack if i were you... but if you're somewhat content with them mg then new pickups will help.

not all the epi goths, depends what version he has, the lowest version isn't mahogany, only the higher end epi and the gibsons. there is a lower end epi sg gothic, it has like no pickguard and has a bolt on neck

oh, well mine has a pickguard and its not bolt on. i love my half stack, whoever suggested i get a better one. i mean, of course its not as good as the higher ones, but im perfectly content with it. i was guessing with the $200 EMG estimate, sorry for any confusion, and i indeed decided on the EMG 81/85 set after playing my friend's Gothic Les Paul with that set in it and reading all your suggestions. thanks for all your help everyone

good choice man, if you got the solid body you have one sweet piece of equipment ( i have the gibson version), though with a mahogany body i would have considered some high end passives, those emgs will treat you right for an epi,

EMG 81 is the best thing you will ever buy for your guitar. i know it was the best thing i ever bought for mine, and i only have an EMG 81 in the bridge position with no neck pickup. \m/ pure metal tone, but i want an 85 for the neck position. any guitar will sound 10x better with EMG's
