Miss Machine is winging its way to me as we speak and I'm looking forward to it. If it's half as good as Calculating Infinity I'll be very happy - every time I listen to that album I hear something different that I hadn't heard before.
They are absolutely insane live too - Ben and Brian seemingly create new angles with their bodies and how they maintain the technicality whilst doing so still escapes me.

I like them, I'm not crazy about them, but I think they're a descent grind band. My favorite song by them is their cover of Come to Daddy. I haven't heard anything from Miss Machine.

At first I was reading about them in Metal Hammer
then I downloaded Sugar Coated Sour
and was blown away! After that I downloaded
the whole of Calculating Infinity and now I'm
waiting for Miss Machine to come
to the stores(August 2).
They are fucking great!
I wrote Calculating Infinity
to some friends(who listen to Death/Grind)
and they liked them a lot.

not really, Gorguts started as death metal then evolved into more crazy wierd death...Dillinger has pretty much always been the same, i think. either way Gorguts is more heavy and death orientated, while Dillinger is just fucked.
they're good.

They aren't even in the same league. Completely differant.
Although I'm sure I could write a DEP song. Just find a high pitched chord, throw it into the mix every 5 seconds... from there, chuck in some random tapping section lasting a fraction of a second and you're set.

There's a lot more to DEP than that. It may appear random, but like Chaos Theory, even randomness can follow a pattern and be predicted. The more I listen to them, the more they make sense and the more the patterns are discernable. This is what makes them great: you really have to listen to them to get anything out of the listening experience.
It's like when you work your socks off for something and it pays off; you feel better than if it just landed in your lap. It's the same with listening to DEP, it's enjoyable because you really have had to listen and delve deeper in order to fathom them out.

I got Miss Machine allready, so how's it coming out on the second?
The DVD with it was insane! At one show he was spitting fire in to the audience and they lit the drums on fire. At another the singer jumped in to the crowd and tried to mosh. Plus, if you've read the last issue of Guitar World, you know he shit in to a towel and threw it at the audience once.

I'm not saying it's completely random, I'm saying there's a certain pattern.

their new singer is Mike Patton, the guy is a homosexual. I will hand it to their music for being out of control but right when I heard the vocals I want to poke my fucking eyes out.

His sexuality is nobodies business but his own and bares no reference to his ability as a vocalist. Oh, and he only collaborated with the band during the recording of the Irony Is A Dead Scene EP - their vocalist is Greg Puciato.

Mike Patton is fucking awesome. I'm downloading Miss Machine right now..I liked Calculating but the vocals made it too difficult to enjoy to the point where I would purchase the album.

Listening now..I like his voice alot more in this one. I wouldn't say its got the technicality Calculating had and the songs are structured more simply, but over all I like it more.

Miss Machine sucks compared to their earlier stuff. They are an allright band (eventhough you may have noticed i tabbed quite a few of their songs). Nothing to shit your pants over. Also for the record they are in no way grindcore, they are just a random form of hardcore.

Yeah..this record is definatly different than Calculating..but I like it more song wise, but I miss the randomtechnicallity they had before. I find the songs more enjoyable.
For those that want something like Calculating..check out a band called "Psyopus". Insane band with the same tech style that DEP has.

Maybe i should give them another listen then. Ive only heard one song, once. I dont really like them based on that song. So if youre correct, I just might like them after all.

the new album is pretty cool...i actually like the more quiet parts better than the crazy noise stuff...and one song has this 1 1/2 minute NIN thing going on...the singer sounds abit like Trent Reznor on a few tracks too.
good shit.

Miss Machine is excellent. It's just what I was expecting: the unexpected! It's clearly still the Dillinger we know and love, but it's a lot more accessible than Calculating Infinity. And Greg's delivery is better than Dimitri's if you ask me. Good album.

Oh yes. Fucking excellent album - Black Metal Sabbath is awesome! Actually, there isn't a song that dips below brilliant on the whole album. They said their new album is going to incorporate even more styles into the melting pot. Should be very interesting.

isn't The Dillanger Escape Plan play odd time signatures and stuff? I saw some video on headbangers ball and it appeared to be. I would probably listen to them if they had different vocals...
