Go and buy...

... the new Susperia CD, Unlimited.

Fucking gorgeous. More thrashy than the last two. Awesome. Losing powers of vocabulary.

It doesn't work like that. Let me explain - Susperia kicks all kinds of arse, and Despised Icon are a bunch of slack-jawed donkey rapists.

OK, so I'm kidding. I'm just sick of the endless stream of metalcore sound that seems to flood over the Pacific these days. DI is better than most, and I still don't want to listen to it.

SUSPERIA To Embark On Extensive European Tour

Norwegian metallers SUSPERIA have confirmed details of a major European tour in support of the recently released "Unlimited" album. The band are set to team up with fellow Norwegians MORTIIS on a double headline package under the banner of "The Unlimited Grudge Tour 2004". Nah, just cleaned it.

On sober reflection, Susperia still rules.

Old thread. New thought.

I like this band. But they're not brilliant. Why?

Something that clean-vocal bands often lack, especially thrash bands, is vocals that manage to cut through the chords. It takes a Phil Anselmo or Steve Souza kind of style to bring the lyrics out properly - abrasive, loud, central to the music. Choruses especially don't work without lyrics. Cute riffs are a dime a dozen. But think of the best thrashy chorus you know, and think about how the lyrics and riffs work off each other.

Listen to the first 1.10 of Chemistry then find you're disappointed when Athera kicks in.

Did anyone get the Devil May Care EP last year?
