MOVIES that kick major ass
Movies rule. I'm in love with my TV.
This thread has no point, I just feel like talking about movies... But I'm allowed to coz it's Chit Chat.
MOVIES THAT KICK ASS IN MY OPINION:
The rocky horror picture show
Waynes world
Joe Dirt
Ghost world
Every Jim Carrey movie I've seen (except his attempts at being serious)
Happy Gilmore
Little Nicky
And I mustn't forget the TV shows.
Black books
The young ones
Bottom
Spaced
Mad TV
Invader Zim
Married with children
Seinfeld
I bet I'm forgetting something. Oh well. Now is your cue to either say "fuck this thread is a useless piece of shit", or "cool, here's the movies I like...", or perhaps both. Either way.

There are so many films that I would class as fantastic but here's a short selection:
Goodfellas
The Godfather Trilogy
Good Will Hunting
Casino
A Beautiful Mind
Terminator I and II
The Omen Trilogy
Donnie Brascoe
The Alien Series
The Green Mile
12 Angry Men (the original)
Monty Python's Life Of Brian

The Indiana Jones Trilogy
Star Wars Episodes IV, V and VI
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Most of Quentin Tarrantino's films.
OK, that's all I can think of at the moment.

i think full metal jacket isnt that good at all. The only very extremely genius part is the first half were the privates get drilled. The switch to the warstory is way too sharp, bad change. And the warstory is pretty mediocre aswell (i bet it was something in that time).

I thought the Transition from bootcamp to war was a bit rough, but none the less thats an awesome movie. The war story kicks ass too. What with that korena girl who sniped like 4 guys.

My own view is that the abrupt switch from boot camp to war was a symbol of how unprepared the US forces were for Vietnam. It made me envisage a rushed and ill-thought war that sent troops to the killing fields as soon as humanly possible. Overall, I thought Kubrik did an excellent job at getting these claustrophobic feelings across in the film.

I just found it rather pointless. That's all.
different strokes for different folks.
I was just curious about what features of the movie you found appealing.

my favorite movies are:
Minority Report (even thought it's not about minorities)
Black Knight
Head of State
for the last 2, movies with dorky black guys making bad jokes are only funny if you laugh AT them, not with them. so that's why i like em so much.

Oh, i guess i can actually explain that, sort of. I liked the charactors. and how whats his name was in love with his adopted sister. then when he tries killing himself. I found a few parts entertaining in a comedy way. but overall i just liked the charactors i guess. its kind of hard for me to decide why i like a movie though

1. Platoon
2. Glory
3. Saving Private Ryan
4. Blackhawk Down
5. Windtalkers
I like war movies. Platoon is definitely my favorite movie. I only watch three kinds of movies- 1. Action/War, 2. Comedy, 3. Porn. I also enjoy shows that follow biologists, particularly herpetologists such as Mark O'Shea. Many of you in the UK might have heard of him, many in Australia might have heard of another guy I like, Steve Irwin. O'Shea is far and away my favorite, though.

Most movies are really boring and cliche, but here's what I like:
Helter Skelter
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
South Park: Bigger Longer and Un-Cut
This Is Spinal Tap
and, of course, the greatest:
EVIL DEAD!

stupid that it gets funny.

in New Zealand) and I liked it a lot.Anyone else seen it?
Also Nine Queens(Argentinian movie with scams(I don't
know if it's the right word))
is very very good!

It's just a little trick I picked up from English class many moons ago. If you notice a trend or something strange in a book/film (for example, the swift move from boot camp to war in Full Metal Jacket) just have a think of why the trend may have come about. What is the writer/director trying to tell me? Of course, sometimes it's because the book/film is poorly executed, but most of the time trends are there because the writer/director wants to convey something to his or her audience in a subtle way.

Horror:
Jeepers Creepers
Scream series
Halloween 1 & 2, (the rest are too ridiculous)
Evil Dead series
Action:
Lord of the Rings
Spiderman 1 & 2
TV:
Simpsons
sometimes...X-files
