Best Keyboardist or Synthesizer player
Every time people always asks about the best guitar player or drummer but we cannot forget the much under-rated keyboardist or synthesizer player. It is time to give recognition to these players. So people please give your views on who should fit the hot seat of the best keyboardist or synthesizer player.

Listen to Varg's synth playing on Hlidsjkalf. I think it's really great, all the effects he adds in there.
(How the fuck can Burzum go from Black Metal to Experimental???)

My favorite would have to be Mustis from Dimmu Borgir. He's so abstract. The guy from Children of bodom is pretty badass also.

I don't know about Dimmu Borgir, but the dude from Children of Bodom is pretty good. He probably made the sounds to the old Nintendo games way back when.

im not really in a position to comment on keyboardists, or dimmu borgir since i don't listen to them much, but it seems that every thing i have hear their keyboardist play is really cliche and unoriginal.

All the playground objects were alive, including the swings and the merry-go-round. A silvery-blue arch of plastic color formed and collapsed in the center. A toy little boy, or maybe she was a little girl, jumped along this object, sliding down it, hanging on with small fingers, leaping into the grass. I felt a sense of responsibility begin to resonate within me, both for the knowledge of my wife and my coming child, and the deep psychedelic responsibility of my shamanic-like path. I glanced away briefly and one of the DMT beings, tall, thin and golem-like, grasped my head and turned it back to see. The shapes kept moving, and the child was my innocence too, and it was asking me to promise to share that innocence completely with our shinebelly baby when she/he births and grows and becomes human.

Janne Warman of Children of Bodom and Warmen.
If he made Nintendo music, it must have been for "Mario kicks Bowser's ass and blows his brains out with a fucking anti-aircraft gun II"

Speaking of Warmen; I have been thinking about picking up their cd. How is it? How can you say mustis's style is unoriginal? That is the only keyboard player besides Janne Warmen that has caught my attention.

I'd say Master Mustis is quite good, actually...
If you think about Warmen, be aware that it doesn't sound anything like the Bodomboyz...
Wirman(his real name) does whatever he wants with Warmen....
Check out the madman of Sonata Arctica!!!
It's awfully bloody wonderful to hear the synth/guitar-duels!!!!
Can't remember his name, sorry...

Ah, the only CD i have with of a band with a dedicated keyboard player is Dragonlord-Rapture. I really like how the keyboard work like a chorus to support the strings. Plus he has great solo parts too.

Rudess and Pinnela are both excellent, but Id have to go with Johnny Maulding of Bal Sagoth because when he plays live, he plays many keyboards at once. Cuz some bal sagoth songs have synth, wind instruments, brass instruments and other sounds going all at once, and he does it all.
