THE Jackson RR1 vs. ESP Standard SV... which would you buy?
Alright I think this is it... Jackson RR1 VS. Esp Standard SV... Here you have to have in mind Korean manufacturing Vs. U.S. Manufacturing, AND EMG pickups Vs. Seymour Duncan.. and the Jackson has 22 frets while the SV has 24.. hmm..sounds very intriguing to me.... if you had enough money to buy any of these two.. and ONLY these two which one would it be??

ESP cause i like 24 frets.
Id switch out the EMG's for some Seymour Duncans.
whats the point of this thread??

us manufacturing, sd pups? no brainer. even with just 22 frets. actually a smaller scale neck is easier to play up there, and i'm quite happy with my rg570 for 24 frets, so i'd like a 22 fretter.
but really, us manufacturing and NO EMGs makes it no contest for me
id rather use dimarzios, but sd are decent.

I TOTALLY recomend u not to buy korean guitars, are not as good as usa models, besides, in a personal opinion, i think jackons are cooler than ESP but i think u should go and buy what you liike more, check the sound of both guitars, ompare every little tiny thing of them, for example the knobs and the strings, haha...just kiddin...
THE POINT IS!:::::::jaaaaackson, but not jackson if its korean....then esp

ESP's are made in Japan... Japan guitars are high quality. All Ibanez guitars are made in japan.

if you want an rrv, may i suggest one of the ones from the Jackson Stars series. They are all neck-through, have excellent pickups, are made in japan, and have 24 frets.
they are around the same price as an rr5 to boot.

what ESP model do you mean? Got a link to it?
If I had the choice and the cash, I'd go for the Jackson easily.

Yea i would rather go with the esp cause it has 24 frets, its got nice woods, and according to my knowledge its a neck thru, and it has emg's. The ESP sv is actually japanese, and its a 2 humbucker model copy of alexi laiho's Custom ESP RR that they make at the japanese ESP custom shop (supposedly one of the best in the world), If i was gonna go for anything i would either get the SV RR, the Aleix RR, or a Ran Custom RR (which i will be ordering in 4 days)
ESP SV - http://www.espguitars.co.jp/oversea..._gt/sv_std.html

Hmm...
Yeah the RR right? hmm its weird though.. i have quite an affection for ESP guitars.. ive tried a few KH's, i own an explorer, i tried also a baritone, but i cant fucking find that stupid SV... but ive tried the RR many times and its just amazing, legendary.. that type of guitar you'll never let go... but.. hmm.. i still find it quite a hard choice..

the ESP standard sv is handmade in Japan, it is not a cheap $400 korean guitar. Unfortunatly it is more expensive than the rr 1 and isn't even available from any US esp dealer, it has to be special ordered directly from Japan through a european or australian esp dealer.
come on guys, 24 extra jumbo frets and EMG-81's?? hear the difference, duncans are weak!

Meh, if i had all the money in the world id get the standard SV from ESP, but then again after all is said and done itll be close to 4000 just for the guitar. I decided to build my own jackson replica. It sounds rediculously close to the original sound, I put in EMG 81 because theres nothing better,

Hmm..
All these answers are interesting, but noone seems to get to the real beef of it all, obviously the subject is extremely subjective, but whatever guitar suites you better should be your answer. If i could only try the fucking SV i'd be more calm, but it seems to be like such an amazing guitar. And the Jackson would be perfect if it had 24 frets (thats probably why they dont manufacture it that way). And the wood bullshit... well they both have Ebony fretboards, and are equally as heavy in the body so, that basically cancels out. Its all up to the Seymour Vs. EMG, and the 24 fret difference...
I tried the 81's on one of kirk guitars, and no doubt that it sounded fucking sweet. I tried the Jackson and it had quiet a unique sound, something I have not experienced before. Oh god what a dillema. I need to solve this soon fokers, I'm failing all my classes because of this shit! Can't stop thinking about it jajaja. Long Live the power of the 6 string. Hail.

the rhoads really isnt a signature model. Hes been dead for a really long time and it basically just turned into a standard jackson model. We might as well say les pauls are les's signature guitar so playing them makes you look stupid.

The Rhoads shapes is exactly that...
Randy Rhoades V. When you see that guitar shape you should think of Randy Rhodes.

My guess would be that that comment was about the Alexi ESP, not about the Jackson RR. That's just my guess though....
About the guitars, well.....
-I wouldn't buy something that doesn't have 24 frets
-I want EMGs
On the other hand,
-I wouldn't be able to reach higher than like 21 on the ESP (AFAI can see)
-I prefer Jackson for their name
I really wouldn't buy any of these guitars. I'd prefer to get a custom one, either from a cheaper custom shop (like Ran) or building it myself.

Sometimes it's best to think twice. Sure, not everybody has to like a certain brand, but that doesn't mean the brand's shit. Ibanez has/has had signature models by guys like Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Gilbert and Scofield ... that alone should be some sort of indication that their guitars don't exactly suck. They could get endorsements from every possible guitar company, but they choose/chose Ibanez, and you say they "suck" ...do you see the contradiction?
