hahaha, my old stratocaster had stickers of hawthorn football club logos on it (although only aussies would get why that is horrendously stupid)
lucky i got rid of them and sold the guitar for a disappointing $120.

hey. dont be sad. my first guitar was a strat that looked as if someone attempted to smash it on stage. the bridge was rusty. the neck had chips in it. and the hed was smashed so it looked like a square. but then i moved on and got a customized esp V. which totally kicks ass.

Don't be upset, my first axe was a piece of shit.
If anyone (for some reason) wants to see pictures of my axe, and stuff, I have photos on Bolt.com. I think you have to register to see my profile though.
Dissection13 on there.
Yeah, I'll pitch in $10 bucks because you aren't an attention whore.

HAHAHA! I remember seeing guitars like that in catalogs- SEARS CATALOGS!
Seriously, though, have you ever seen the shit guitars they usually sell at department stores? Go to Walmart and have a look, hehe...
It plays pretty bad, but I play unplugged most of time, so I can't complain. Actually, I can complain, and I will. It sucks. I had about $150 to fuck around with last fall, and I was seriously considering buying another Squier, just because a new one is an improvement over an old one. It ended up going into bills and Christmas presents, though. Sometimes I get enough money to buy a new one, but I have to spend it on necessities, I'm sure you all know what that's like.
Also, I appreciate the donation thing, but I'm not sure it's the right way for me to go about things. I definitely like the idea of other people buying me things, but I always end up feeling guilty about it later. I'm not sure why. Like one time I was out with this girl, just doing shit, and she bought me dinner, and I felt really bad about it when I got home. I'll think about it, though. Thanks to all those who offered!

Wow, I didn't even know Walmart sold guitars. Lol.
I would just save some money up and except all money that is offered and buy a decent guitar. Even if you have nothing to eat for a weak, you need a new guitar.
Or you can just go to a music store. *Accidentaly* bump a guitar you like, making a small chip in it. Tell them about and hopefully they will drop the price on that guitar or something. Remember, become friends with an employee at the store so they can give you their 20% or whatever disccount that they get.
Good Luck.
I just realized something. ChrisRezendes has more tabs than posts. Cool. Keep up the good work.

Whereabouts? I'm about 70 minutes south of Boston, 40 minutes west of Providence. About 10 minutes from Cape Cod, some people actually consider this part of Cape Cod, I do not. That's probably because I normally associate Cape Cod with the word "nice" and this city can best be termed as "shithole". The only cities as bad would be Fall River, Brockton, and Worcester the only cities worse are Dorchester and Boston.
As far as my bridge goes, I have no idea, I guess just wear and tear. It's funny to look at, though, sometimes I show it to people just to get a laugh. It's still playable, though.

I went to Massachusetts once.
So do you like this 'crappy' guitar, Chris. Because if you do I think ( this is what I would do ) you should just spend some money making this guitar better. Like new pickups and stuff. New bridge etc etc. But this is only if you like the guitar which i'm assuming that you don't.

HERE'S ME!
My first axe was a Squier to. I shall never play a strat again.............
While we're here, here's me rockin' out! We were done practicing (the neighbors complained) and we were sitting there listening to the Music Choice channel for metal. A Cannibal Corpse song came on and it was rockin' real hard! I thought it would be funny if I started thrashing around, I wasn't even plugged in. Unfourtanetly, the other guitarist had his camera with him!

A friend of mine has always preferred cheap Squier's to Fender Strats.
Stick a Dimarzio X2N or a SD Invader in the bridge, and sort the bridge out and you'll get many more miles out of it I reckon.

And I practice in a smaller room than that with less carpeting.
That music choice channel is only good for last rites on mondays at 10 pm.

Yeah, I can't install shit, anyway. Well, I shouldn't say that, because I installed the machine heads, I've also put together reptile cages and just stuff around the house. I have no idea how to install pickups. New pickups would help, though, as I do play though my computer, using ReValver.
I think I'll just wait a year (I'll probably have saved up enough money by then) and get something new. I really want something with decent or better pickups, 24 frets, really good machineheads, and a single locking tremolo, preferably Floyd Rose or Floyd Rose liscensed... probably a Jackson or an ESP. I also love the BC Rich designs, but the ones I've played don't sound that great, especially compared to a good Jackson. I had a friend who had a Bronze series Warlock and Platinum series Mockingbird in high school, neither of them sounded very good. I'm sure there are good BC Rich guitars, but I'm also pretty sure a good Jackson or ESP would cost less.

I have an NJ Warlock, and it's ok, but sound wise, I always preffered my cheaper Jackson Kelly. The licenced trem on my jackson was horrible tho, and the horribly blocky Bolt-on heel annoyed me. I bought the Walock because it had a nice recessed hell, and good access to the upper frets, and the trem is really stable. The pickups are crap tho.
I endded up selling the Jackson to fund my Ibanez. I can windmill live better with a smaller guitar, and it's also much lighter.

Wow, that is terrible, but it must be misleading for people to look at your guitar then watch you play! my first, Peavey Raptor. worse playing than the squier.

Lol nice :P
My first guitar was a Hohner Strat Something-something - It was really fucked up, and at that time, I liked grunge, and i wanted my guitar to look...I dunno what it's called. To make a short story, even shorter, it ended up looking really shitty. And It also played so
Now I have a Yamaha Aes800 - And I really like that - Though, I'd still like a 7 string Ibanez. But I guess, that no matter what guitar a guitarist has, he/she always want another.

Why waste money on guitar with a single locking bridge, kinda defeats the purpose of it locking seeing as it wont stay in tune at all.

I've never played a Kahler, or even seen one up close.
But Kerry, jeff and Dave use 'em/have used 'em often enough so I guess they can't be bad.

I tell a lie!
My mate's drummer has a custom Jackson with a Kahler on it. I was playing on it for a little while. Didn't use the trem tho, I tend not to go into apeshit Slayer/Trey stuff on other people's axes.

Actually, I prefer playing with a double-locking tremolo, but I'd rather have a guitar with a single-locking tremolo because it would be easier for me to change tunings more often. The tremolo I have now is non-locking (big surprise, hehe...) and all the tuning I've done in the past makes it a real bitch to try to tune it and/or keep it in tune now. It doesn't really defeat the purpose, because it will stay in tune much better than a non-locking tremolo system.
To be perfectly honest, I've never even heard of Kahler, I haven't really kept in touch with equipment lately. There's not much of a point in drooling over shit you can't have. That's why I didn't bother to renew my Musician's Friend free catalog subscription.

Then you should atleast invest in some locking tuners, with either a graphite nut, or a roller nut

As far as my bridge goes, I have no idea, I guess just wear and tear. It's funny to look at, though, sometimes I show it to people just to get a laugh. It's still playable, though.

Actually, it's a couple of q-tip sticks cut in half as well as folded up pieces of white cardboard, and I put it there. Before I did, the strings were too low and they were resting on the frets, making play impossible. No plastic bag, though.

It's probably fixable

I suspect that unless the neck is trashed/bent you can probably get somebody to adjust the bridge so your guitar would play OK. Those little Allen screws on the bridges are to raise/lower the strings to give proper clearance. If they were actually resting on the frets, I'd check to see if the neck is straight (look from the nut at the top of the neck toward the bridges; if the neck is straight, all frets inline, no bowing backward or forward). If it's straight, then I'd check if the bolts holding the neck on the body are OK, not loose (but don't strip them). If the bridge adjusters won't raise the strings off the frets, either the neck is bent, the body's bent, or the neck needs a thin shim where it's bolted on to fix the angle. It would be unusual for a Fender to actually be that out of whack unless it got trashed by somebody, and even then it is probably fixable.
-not really into metal, just saw your posts. I have one of those goofy Synsonics with the speaker, got it for a joke as it was only $53.
