Amon Amarth finalize track listing, release date for new album
Sweden's AMON AMARTH have finalized the track listing for their new album, "Fate of Norns", due on September 6 through Metal Blade Records.
The follow-up to last year's "Versus The World", "Fate of Norns" (which refers to the three Norns — or "godesses of fate" — Urd, Skuld and Verdandi, who, in Scandinavian mythology, sit at the root of Yggdrasil — the world tree — weaving the fate of every man) was recorded at Berno studio in Malmö, Sweden.

and talking of amon amarth, i wonder if corpsevomit is ever going to get around to those "once sent from the golden hall" and "the avenger" tabs he so kindly promised us  im almost done tabbing friends of the suncross and you can expect eventually, a couple more from that album on the way. |

I can't wait for new Amon Amarth album. I have "Verses the World" as one of my top albums of all times. All the songs on it absolutely kick ass. Hope this follow up will surpass "Verses the World". Album covers for Amon Amarth always kick major ass.

Yeah, I have been working non stop, I really had absolutely no time at all to tab out some songs, hence my absense. But Ill get working on it soon, I just have to finish up a couple or recalls in the shop and we should be good. And yes as soon as i get the new album you can expect alot of them to be up here.

My friend said the songs for this album have leaked and he downloaded all of the songs.He said that it is pretty damn good.I dont know what program he downloaded them from.But im guessing it was soulseek.

I didn't want to get flamed by a mod for starting a new tread about Amon Amarth's new album so I decided to ressurect this one.

For my part, I'm a little bit disappointed. It still is a decent album, but not as good as their other ones.

The album itslef is pretty good. I personally like versus the world better but I cant deny the genius quality of this one. My personal favorite tracks are Fate of Norns, An Ancient Sign of A Coming Storm, Where Death Seems to Dwell, and Arson. They seemed to have gotten a lot more melodic in thier riffs, but this album seems to be a little rushed. The lyrics have always been great, but these just kick ass. Thats the one thing I think is just as good or possibly better than that on their earlier albums. One thing seemed missing on this album that I just cant seemed to point out. Some parts of it just dont seem too full. Another thing I missed was the faster more upbeat songs like bastards of a lying breed, or down the slopes of death. Nonetheless I think that Fate Of Norns is an overall kick ass album. I am desperatly Awaiting a tour in the US, but i dont know if that will ever come soon. For those who dont really like the album, give it a couple listens and it will grow on you and you will realize this masterpiece.

my friend got it. I like it. I like all of their stuff after Once sent frome the golden hall up untill now pretty equal. It seems that no one else feels that way. Im not saying they are all similar from then on, but they are all as equal good for me.
EDIT: after re-reading my post i realized that if you read it wrong it may sound as if i dont like Once sent, but that is actually my favorite album.

mmkay, i'm going to review the album, but i'm not going to read the whole thread, becuase i have to leave soon.
This release was good, but not up to the Amon Amarth standards that i have come to expect. Favourite track off it was Beheading Of A King, although Once Sealed In Blood is very good as well. I can't quite put my finger on what makes it not so good, i'm sure i'll find the answer i'm looking for when i read through the thread tonight.
It's still a great CD, don't get me wrong, just not what i was expecting

AMON AMARTH's latest CD, "Fate Of Norns", has entered the German Media Control Top 100 chart at position No. 31 and Austria's Media Control album chart at No. 56. The German debut marks the highest chart entry in Germany to date for the group's label, Metal Blade Records.
The follow-up to last year's "Versus the World", "Fate of Norns" was recorded at Berno studio in Malmö, Sweden and was issued as a limited-edition digipack featuring a bonus DVD, "AMON AMARTH live at Grand Rokk". The 45-minute disc contains three-camera video footage of AMON AMARTH performing live in Reykjavik, Iceland on March 5, 2004.
AMON AMARTH will be embarking on a European tour with IMPIOUS and DISILLUSION beginning on October 8 in Hamburg, Germany.

bought the album today, without the bonus dvd but it was $21 so that was more than reasonable. (it fucked damaged out of a record sale  )
its different to the other album i have, which is OSFTGH, heaps slower and more melodic. but i do like it plenty, on its second spin now.
not the absolute greatest thing ive ever heard, its got something missing, i dunno what though. but still, as youve all probably found out, its got a 1% chance of disappointing die-hard AA fans, im not a die-hard fan and i love it.

I am a die hard AA fan and the album definitely didnt disspoint me. I found one thing that I thought was missing was the presence of cymbals, mainly crash. In the earlier albums and even versus the world, there was a large amount of cymbalwork. But in this one, either the mic wasnt close enough, or they didnt want that kind of sound. Also Im not sure if the drummer used triggers in the earlier albums but in Ride Valkries, you can definitely tell that he uses triggers in this album. And even in some other tracks you can tell there are triggers.
