MXR 10 band eq
Does anyone know the difference between MXR's 10 band eq and the Kerry King one other than the Kerry King has two outputs?

That's it. The only other difference is the paint job.

scooping mids totally depends on the amp. on my 5150 combo the mids are at zero, on my little marshall g15rcd the mids are at 10

On my amp, if the mids are any lower than 3 or 4 it will sound like shit, so I usualy keep the mids at 5 or 6.

I have a 5150... i keep the mids at about 4, dont scoop them... the 5150 dosent sound good with scooped mids, no amp does. The 5150 has a resonance control for a reason.

some amps do. my old mesa vtwin rack was probably the most mid rangey amp i've owned... i usually had the mids between 0-2 and they were still there. alot of nice botique amps sound really good even with the mids scooped, some examples would be the bogner uberschall, rivera knucklehead, ashdown fallen angel, and alot of deizel stuff as well. were as a $900+ 5150 doesnt handle scooped mids very well at all imo. hell, my jmp-1 sounds hella mean with scooped mids. i like to have plenty of mids to cut through the mix and give tone and presence to my sound, but not alot so it can have some bite. about 0-1(the jmp-1's mids go from -6 to 6)
my sonic maximizer has a sort of scoop effect on my sound because the lo contor and bbe process act mainly as low and high controls so they don't boost my mids, so i compensate with my 15 band graphic eq.
but yes some amps do handle scooped mids quite nicely.

Pregain - 6
Low - 7
Mid - 4
High - 5
Resonance - 4.5
Presence - 6
If it starts to sound thin with mids then add more resonance, or less presence. Those are active eq's so they make quite a difference.
