My Boss Ultimate DS-1 w/ stomp switch & fat control pot
Guys,
Let me know what you think of my mod here, is a DS-1 with extra Fat pot, switchable clipping, heavyduty stomp switch for boost, toggle switch to sellect soft distortion-normal-overdrive sound, 2 Leds indicators (for status & boost) etc:
Pictures and everything are here: http://www.diokay.com/ds1ufe.htm
Also will have SD-1 version with boost pot & mixed clean pot on the left and right casing.
OK, Should I go on with the mod, or get new housing, anything, all comment welcome.
Thanks a lot.

to be completely honest i am not impressed at all
ive got very good speakers and this sounds muddy and boring, definately not for use in a metal band

Sounds good for what your play, but it gets way to bassy when you play the e a d strings.

Its a good first distortion pedal. I was using it for a couple years or so until I got the MT-2. Then I got an adequate amp of which has good distortion on its own thus rendering all distortion pedals useless.

I could mod just about anything. But my stock parts are all about pedals so, yes I mod only pedals.

The drive is away heavier than a stock DS-1, and much fatter than MT-2. I'd probably need to change 2 parts to get this less midrangey and eat that MT-2 and MD-2
I'm looking to mod MT-2 sometimes in the future to more drive, fat, even switchable frequency for different metal taste.
Anyway, TAL for the comment

I thought Midrange will give less metal sound, MT-2 has pretty low Mid.
And BTW, I record that on the gain positioned at half full.
Still needed to alter 2 parts for even more gain

But what will happen to hum & feedback? Won't that go crazy?

No hum no feedback! up to certain point, my prototype that I've sold has more gain than the one I use for the clip here. It was fine, it make it tighter, but I was thinking of better saving some parts by using those one I have replaced when possible. Just too many parts replaced on this mod and actually even thinking of getting totally new housing. And actually I was expecting to get that particular opinion (getting this into completely new pedal rather than the mod idea)
A lot suggesting that it is my cicuitry now, and I am not sure about it.

Liys, I think what youre doing is really cool.
Record it again with the gain up higher so we can hear its full potential. Or whatever settings would make it sound the best for metal.

Thin sounding = MT-2 = aggree!
Metal Sound = High hi, Low Mid, High Lo > Thick/FAT = , Thin =

don't scoop the mids too much, just enough to give it bite, but keep plenty of mids for a good cut..
