Merciful Fate
I looked back a few pages but didnt find any threads on this band...one of the most influencial metal bands ever with the one of the greatest singers i have ever heard...none other than king diamond...they started the sound that is heard in cannibal corpse, cradle of filth...killswitch engage and many other bands...amazing noone has mentioned them recently

you didnt look good then i clearly remember a thread on both bands only a couple months ago....anyway they both kick ass and i love them, i really like how king diamond tells storys with his albums noone else that i can think of does that

How the fuck do Cannibal Corpse sound like King Diamond? The only heavy influence that's obvious (it's pretty obvious in the riff structure and composition of the first 3 albums) is Possessed. Obviously there are other influences, but you don't really hear it.
Mercyful Fate were very good, but I see absolutely no relevance in their being mentioned as a big influence of Cannibal Corpse.
Don't Break the Oath is still on my playlist, by the way.

Yeah . Very influential band. One of the pioners in black metal (among with Bathory etc.). Best records were from 80's, Melissa and Don't Break the Oath, still the new MF (re-united?) is good. I've also liked King Diamond, but non can't beat Mercyful Fate.

hear it or not merciful fate still had influence...u could take a riff or a lyric and transform it but it is still acredited to the original writer...

King Diamond/Merciful Fate... they are the reason why i'm here. They make me pick a guitar the first time, they make me throw in the waste all my pop/rock/etc. albums. They make me fell pain, fear, hate, sadness. I remember a christmas night 4 years ago, i'm very drunk and i was hearing Vodoo, Sarah's night, God, make's me fell so afraid...
