that kind of post is of zero help, if he/she could just fuck around with settings and get the tone it wouldnt be a problem in the first place

Fine, I'll try to be helpful.
Turn up the mids
Up the highs
Not a lot of lows
Thats what I do when I want a tone like that.
BTW, I dont listen to Satyricon so I'm not sure excatly what tone you are looking for. Im just going by the tone in that one 'Fuel For Hatred' video I saw.

Ok, I don't see an answer to the original question. How can I achieve a guitar sound similar to that on 'dark medieval times' and 'the shadowthrone'? And for the people not familiar with satyricon, fuel for hatred (or anything else you've probably heard by them) is not the sound I'm trying to get. There's no need to respond if you havn't heard either of the two albums mentioned. Thanks
Edit, yes I know this is an old thread. Calm the fuck down.

Thats because of the recording. The original tone is probably pretty cool

transient described exactly what I'm trying to achieve.. the DMT sound, but I'm also interested in the sound on the shadowthrone..it sounds completely different but great as well IMO.. Can I create both guitar sounds through a cheaper pedal and amp(solid state)? Do I need an effects processor? I know the studio can make a big difference in the sound of an album but I would like to be close.
