Skinlab
I heard from a friend that Skinlab does a awesome cover of Bullet with Butterfly Wings, but I also heard they were crappy nu-metal. Whats your opinion on them?

I don't think Skinlab are nu-metal because they don't rap or have hip-hop influences in their sound and they don't try to blend two styles of music like so many nu-metal bands do. They are just straight up metal with an agressive streak in my eyes.
Their second album (Disembody: The New Flesh) is their best to date in my opinion and they put on a pretty good live show - Steev is an excellent front man.

I tend to agree with you there - they held back a little on the aggression and I thought their sound was a little weaker too.

I've heard better bands, and I've heard worse... I probably wouldn't buy any of their albums or go to any of their shows.

Not my deal man. Maybe not nu-metal, but they're fucking close. I keep expecting some random shithead from my school to hop in out of nowhere and bounce to their songs. To me, they're a bit like Chimeria, not necessarily musically, but their both bands that, althougth they are trying to stray from it, still remind me of nu-metal.

I think Chimaira is pretty far away from nu-metal.

Maybe they're getting away from it, but come on, have you read the lyrics?

I don't remember the night, no. Haha.
I got sick of having the same avatar. I'll put it back one day, when it doesn't bore me any more.

both. they started as a modernized 80's thrash band, then went nu-metal with The Revolting Room. However, it is quality nu-metal.
Quality nu-metal is usually bands that sold out. Sepultura, Skinlab etc. Bands like this retain good vocals and water down music slightly.
Bad nu-metal is...well, KoRn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit.
NEITHER KIND OF NU-METAL IS GOOD
