The only semi good transtube amp I tried was The peavey bandit even that I didn't like too much. I personaly don't like them too much, but if you do, then thats cool.

The supreme xl is like an old version of the Randall RG100, its not the same, but I can get a a close sound like dime had during the CFH/Vulgar era.

well, crate blue voodoo's are probably the cheapest tube amps that sound good imo..... you can pick up the origional models on ebay for under $400
60w 1x12's, 2x12's, and heads, or the 120w head.....

I've never tried an original blue voodoo. I've only played the newer ones at guitar center and I didn't like them to much.
How much better are the older ones? How do they sound?

ive played the bandits, i didnt like them too much, if you are gonna go tube, get real tubes, not that transtube bullshit. there are some good solidstate amps out there, i personally like the H&K warp 7, but now they make a tube model, so i'd go for that.

the new ones arent even the same amps, completely different circutry and all.... i like the new ones, but they cost more and i prefer the sound of the origional bv120h and bv60's plus they're cheaper anyways because the crate namesake resale is crap so a brand new bv120h used to cost like $800 new but they go for under $400 used....
i'd try one out. it has it's own sound. it doesnt do a marshall sound, peavey sound, or a mesa sound, if you want a marshall, peavey,or mesa sound you should buy a marshall, mesa,or peavey amp. but if you like what the crate can do then by all means go for it. if not don't waste your money.

I dont like stock 5150s, I havent had the pleasure of playing one of which has been biased hotter. I really dont like the crossover distortion which happens from it being biased so cold on the stock ones.

I need to go to some music store and try out some more used amps (hopefully an original used blue voodoo.)
