Noise Suppressors
Well I have a Solid State amp, and when I plug in my MT-2 there is some guly noises comming from it, so I think I need one of these magical boxes, but I don't really know what ones are better, I was thinking of getting a boss one, but they are not in stock at the local music store, and it will be close to a month untill they have some back. So heres my question sould I get a different brand? Witch brand is the best? And im not looking to spend more than $100.
Thanks!

My amp can be pretty noisey some times but I usualy play right next to my computer when its on. So that makes that annoying humming noise.
Make sure there aren't any other high voltage units running such as a computer.

The good news.
The best Noise/gate pedal I have ever used, and now own, is the ISP Technologies Decimator. Kicks the hell out of even the Rockington Hush; because the same dude that made the Hush made this thing after he split from Rockington. This pedal or the rack version will be in my rack space once I complete getting my rack system together. Right now, it's in my amps serial FX loop. It's wonderful, because you don't even know it's on until you turn it off and hear the back ground noise, so no tone sucking! It's so sweet. Decimator pedal
Bad news.
Don't think you will find one for less than $100 USD even used. They are worth the money though, ime.

You mean Rocktron. That decimator looks awesome, I think i'll be putting on of those in my rack whenever I get around to putting one together.

Do these suppressors block all that annoying feedback and humming? My amp does that a lot when im not blocking the strings or have my guitar turned down all the way.

That unwanted feedback and hum will be gone forever, even while you are not blocking the strings. The ISP pedal is a dream. Best thing I have ever used.

no they don't... unless:
A.you paid $15 for a no name brand one
B.you're stupid and you don't know how to work it
or
C.it's broken
i personally like the ns-2 alot... having previously owned one, and my guitarist uses it.
now i'm using a rocktron hush super c which beats the hell out of the hush pedal. and more than rivals the ns-2.
i've heard nothing but good about the mxr smartgate, but i havent actually used one in a gigging environment so i'm not sure.
i'm thinking about exploring other rocktron devices and i've been eyeballing the decimator as of late.
my hush super c is great..... but if there is better for my pricerange then why should i settle for the super c?
i'm limiting myself to a 1u space rack noise supressor though as i want no more pedals and my rack has no more space.

Im sure any rack unit will be better than a pedal, but the MXR smartgate has to be the best noise supressor pedal ive ever used.

not really.... they don't work like a noise suppressor/gate at all, but certain pickups will feedback worse than others i.e. going from an emg 60 in neck position to a seymoure duncan invader in the bridge position is kinda like putting a light o.d. pedal in front of your amp. although an emg 60 wouldnt work in the same guitar as an invader without alot of adjustments, but you get the point.

Dammit, can't you look up the price yourself? We can't do everything for you.
You have a list of good noise/gate FX, now go find one you like. None of them cost more than $130 USD at max, but will be much cheaper on E-bay.
