King of dark tone!
I just got a EMG 81 fitted in my jackson, its running into my marshall tube tsl combo, I have an MT-2 and a super overdrive, I was just looking for some expert advice on how to get a black metal tone, like immortal in order to chuf out their riffs. I know immortal use marshalls, so I should definately be able to dial in their tone, thanks!

just piss around with ure settings, add shit loads of bass, half of treble, may be a bit more and hardly any mid and u'll be alright

well, if you have a tsl, then sell the mt-2 and super overdrive....
for blackmetal dist. lots of lows,reverb, and presence, with not so much mids(but not scooped all the way!), plenty of highs and gain but not to much.
hmmm... dick with it.

#1 dispose of any and all external overdrive devices IE: MT-2 and any other similar pedals.
#2 Get an overall idea of what exactly you want to sound like
#3 tunr the knobs.... its scary at first but sooner or later you'll overcome your fear and learn to turn them to change the sound of your amp.

Depends what era of Immortal you are talking about. Thier old stuff had alot of mids and treble. Thier later stuff had that standard Abyss studio guitar tone.

Im sorry dude, I merely stated my opinion. Here listen carefully. Ill put it in bold too IN MY OWN OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont like the really fast guitar riffs that i cant hear, and the constant blast beats. I like it in grindcore but not in black metal. ok. thats my own opinion, dont like it dont get offensive to me.

And in the same token It is my opinion that you are stupid for holding an unsupported since old Immortal does not have constant blast beats and riffs you can't hear. Listen to "Unsilent Storms in the Northen Abyss" or "Mountains of Might".

And yes I said riffs you cant hear. That was only pretty much on Battles in the North. They jsut have entirely too much gain, I cant hear any chnges really.
