New Amp
Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a Traynor Custom Valve YCV80Q 4x10 Combo. Link here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/480962/. Played on it a shit load and using my scheter s1 elite i can get some really nice tone out of it. Anyone had any problems with it or anyone have any suggestions on a better amp around 600-800$? I've tried some other amps like Laney Hardcores, but this seems like the best amp I can get that will allow me to gig. It's definately loud enough to gig, never put it up to 10, only up to 6 and that was loud enough that I couldn't hear myself scream.

why get a combo? why not just get a half stack, i know it may be big etc but its worth it in the long run. Look on ebay and buy a better amp

a half stack would probably be easier to transport than a huge 4x10 combo.... the 4x12 cab alone will probably weigh less and take up about as much room plus most people prefer the sound of 12's for guitar rather than 10's. a decent 4x12 would probably run you $200+ dollars, and a decent tube head can easily be purchased for under $1000(u.s.), depending on how powerful it is, what brand it is and so on. used 5150's go for about $500, used blue voodoos go for $200-$400. those are probably what i would recommend for your price range.
but if you love the sound of that combo, by all means go for it.

If you really want a combo a 5150 combo would be good. For some reason the combo's bias' are set hotter than the head so they will sound thicker and warmer than a stock 5150 head. Samash sells peaveys
