Level: 12 o clock
High: 5 o clock (all the way up)
Low: 5 o clock (all the way Up)
Middle: 7 o clock (all the way down)
Mid Freq:1 o clock
Distortion: 3 o clock
Thats just about the best tone I could get out of it when I used MT-2's.

No, the mt-2 kind of sounds like shit when its not scooped. Thats why its not a very good pedal besides the fact that its a pedal for distortion.

for metal it doesnt sound very good with alot of mids imo, when i had one i had the mid and mid freq knobs at about 10 o' clock, not completely gone, but enough to give it some bite..... it's a very thin sounding pedal though so i don't really like it.

What I use on my mt-2 is
High: 3 o'clock
Low: 4 o'clock
Mid: between 9 and 12 o'clock
Mid freq: all the way down
And distortion between 3 o'clock and full
This setting sounds very neat, even on my strat

Sorry, it was the Slaughter Of The Soul thread, but searching for At The Gates brings it up anyway.
http://metaltabs.com/forum/showthre...highlight=Gates
I use those settings to play everything from Nile to Akercocke and from Cryptopsy to ATG so you may find them useful. I get the best results by lowering mids and boosting lows and highs on my amp.

Does anyone have a problem with feedback on the pedal or is it just my guitar and amp.

i've owned em all(well, like 12).... if you play at loud volumes with a distortion pedal you will get feedback(and horrible tone )... standing or sitting close to your amp and the more gain you have the pedal producing also increases the feedback. a noise suppressor always helps.
even nice high gain tube tops will get noisey and feed back without a noise suppressor, but at least they'll sound good when you play .

Not siting infront of your amp like 2 feet away helps reduce feedback. Face the opposite direction of the amp, then the pickups are face the speaker.

Did you try the mid-freq knob? It can make a huge difference in your sound..
For crunch, try lowering the Lows whie upping the Mids and Highs. Putting the mid-freq high also helps.
This pedals greatness comes from its versatility and tone

i have my pedal settings at:
level - 11 o'clock
high/low - both all the way up
middle (main one) 2 o'clock
mid freq - none
distortion - between 3 and 5 o'clock
thats a good setting for me, its a really crisp distortion thats not too thin and i love the sound of it.
a tip: don't have your level more than 12 o'clock. i have found that playing with this makes the sound crackle really badly, its not good crisp, its just awful.

I'll screw around with it when I get home. I run 81/85'sthrough a VTM-120 and 412 cab if it makes a difference.

I run the mt-2 to the piece of shit rogue gs 100r that i got through a squier bullet. I keep my good shit through tube amps and other shit, so this is more or less just a screw around kit. But I still got bad feedback.

A decent tone is quite extraordinary on pedals. Though most tube distortion kicks it hands on, for a pedal mt-2 rocks my socks

Even though we all have the pedal, it sounds different on different amps&guitars, so it doesn't matter.
But hey, if you cant figure it out for yourself, make shure the mid-freq is low and dont scoop the other mid control too much, then it won't suck as much.

mt-2 alone sucks, get a eq pedal and you can get some decent tones out of it.

I have MT2 now for about 6 years........I's a great pedal although I don't use it anymore (got Boss GX-700).
Still for solid state it's very good, especialy if you play it on bigger amp.....like mine JMP MK2 100w head. I can get really heavy crunch ideal for deathmetal riffs:
level - 12 o'clock
high & low - put them between 10 & 12 o'clock, but not over 12 if ya play on high volumes
mid freq. - 12.30 - 1 o'clock
middle - 7 - 9
distorsion - 10-12 0'clock depending how hot sound ya want
when I play with band I put dist. on 10 or 11 o'clock becouse of high output pickup (Gibson T500), If I played something hotter like Evolution, Invader or X2N I would naturaly decrease the distorsion. too much dist. just killes the definition
I play JMP on 4X12 Marshall cabinet, I think that's the secret couse on smaller 30w marshall i couldn't get close to sound like that. I also used it in combination with 7-bend EQ, but it didn't help too much....it doesn't make sound any heavier.....totaly scooping mids on high volumes is bad for death metal. Sound becomes too tight and fast drums kill your sound totaly
give a second chance to MT2, for a stomp box, real miracle!!

i gave up my mt-2, i couldn't stand its sound, too thin and whiny. and since i had trouble getting my amp set up i set myself up with a digitech metal master, a noise gate, and an eq, now i get very little feedback, some decent tones and a really good distortion, in fact last gig i played everyone complimented how much better the distortion sounded

the problem i have with my MT-2 is although it can make the bottom strings beefy enough, the top strings never get anything more than a slight distortion, and they basically sound like shit.
