Marshall Valvestate 80-80 power amp...

does anyone have any experience with these amps?
I have found one for sale for $350 Canadian
I am going to try it when I have the cash in a week or so, but till then I am wondering if anyone has one, has played one, or knows of any major problems benifits of these? I have a peavey sheffield 4/12 mono/stereo cabnet and a behringer V-amp that I will be using with the Marshall...

yes I do know the Behringer sucks, I have some decent IMO settings for it though...

I played one, they're not good, but at least a bit better then those MG series.

still, you're better selling all your crap and buying something decent

hahahahahaha!

yeh, i don't really like the marshall valvestate poweramps, and $350 isnt the best deal you could get on one either. if you want a good valve power amp i'd suggest the ada micro tube stuff.
with the crappy v amp though i'd suggest something all tube so warm your signal.

with the crappy V-amp it won't ever sound good.

even with a tube poweramp, the tone will still be horrible, he's better off buying a decent top or a completely new rack setup. its not really worth to invest in a tube poweramp if you use a crap preamp. and it will not 'warm' his tone at all, if he cranks up and the power tubes go into saturnation it will sound even more shit because of the behringer, I played a guy's setup who had one of those things between its pre and poweramp (JMP-1 and EL34 100/100) and it sounded shit, now withouth the behringer it sounds way better (still not super-great, but its a semi-digital marshall preamp )

so anyways, my vamp aside, as I know all of you hate the stupid things...

$350 isnt a good deal? what are they new?
for a power amp are they worth having at all? I dont have access to order in much from any local music store, they all suck here in town, and Im not one for ordering online, I have limited options, persay I can get a new preamp? worth using the 80/80 on 2 Peavey Sheffield cabs? I can get a second one dirt cheap, same as what I got now...

well i definately think your should get a better preamp, but for a poweramp you could get an all tube peavey 50/50 or 60/60 used for about $300(u.s.) hell, every now and then some one on ebay gets a nice mesa 50/50 or marshall 9100 off ebay for under $400.
with the v amp your sound will suck balls through the valvestate 80-80, but through a peavey 50/50 it will suck less balls.
