ive got a good right hand but my left hand drags me down a bit.. im wondering what are some good exercises to get ur left hand bashing away as fast as your right?

I am not a pro at this but my advise is to just throw in things using your left hand instead of your right if that's what you use. Start substituting things in with your left hand instead of right. That should help a bit. Just use your left hand a lot if possible.

yeah. if you play any excercises to make your hands faster what you can do is start those with your left hand instead of your right. part of why left hands are so slow is not because they cant do it its because your mind cant comprehend the movement. its harder to focus on your left hand only but if you do this it will work cause it helped me

something I am going to try as soon as I can get my kit re setup is actually swapping it over and playing fully left handed for a while and see if it helps, cause at the moment when I start blasting, I have my RIGHT hand on the snare, and that makes doing fills round the kit a bitch when blasting. especially for an unco-ordinated gump like me (I actually have a medical reason for that, but I don't need to bore ya'll with the details)

Reason why left hands are so screwed and uncoordinated is because in your brain there are two different sides that do two different things. The right is like your creative side or something like that and the left is the side that you don't really have to use to think of to do something....It's hard to explain but your left side of your brain controls the right side of your body and the right side controls the left side of your body so when you use your left side your right side of the brain has to "think" and get the info through or try to in order to work.
Sorry that whole thing was sloppy as hell and hard to understand but you kind of get the idea.

I know what you are saying, but I actually have something called Dyspraxia which means the signals all signals are slightly screwed, but even more so when using my left hand etc.

My left hand is terribly lagged, but there is a good exersise that helps with that, start doing triplets at a slow pace, RLL RLL etc. Increase your speed slowly to your maximum, hold it as long as you can and slowly recede. I know this thread is old, but this is useful ^_^

I just remembered a good endurance exersise, it's used to even out the hands aswell.
Do 16th notes, first, 4 in each hand, then 8, then 16. Do that at a steady pace and be careful to keep the notes very even and do that for as long as you can. Don't drive yourself past your pain barrier, no pain no gain doesn't work with drums. My teacher told me to be a lot more careful after I hurt my left wrist by doing this exersise for too long. 10 minutes is the general maximum.

For strengthening your left hand, just do sticking exercises like parapiddles(Spelling?) on your snare first. That's all I can think of. Then using those same exercises, add other pieces of your set, like the floor tom and the high tom. Do it like this. Oh you can also add bass hits just to keep the time.

Again, try it on the snare first, then try the other drums.
Also try this stocking on the snare..... I think it would be difficult adding other pieces on the set, but I don't know. Maybe you can. I mainly use this exercise on the snare.

Some notes about these tabs; Ignore the dots. Those are jsut in place so when I post this, they are lined up with the rest of the tab. Plus the last part of the last exercise where there is a space. Ignore that. I don't know WHY there's a space, but just go along with the stickings.

Also nore notes; With both exercises, start of at a slow tempo, say either 80,90, or 100 bpm. Then try and work your way up to 120. HEll, if you can, go above that, but I recomend that you pace yourself and aim for 120 first. It'll be hard yes. I'm still at 115. This should strenthen up your left hand. It strenthened up my hands well.

Just keep trying to blast for exercises and you'll get better. That's what I'm doing.
