Phil vs. Dime and Vinnie
I personally think Phil is way better. Dime and Vinnie are a bunch of pussies. They went on stage with Disturbed (the worst fucking band ever) and played with them. Damageplan is a shitty version of Panter (which have been overratted anyway--Pantera I mean). Pantera would not have made it any where without Phil. All Phil's bands are good and I'm waiting for Eibon to come out. All in all I think I hate Dime and Vinnie. Rex is still allright.

You can't compare the two really. They all do different things. But we all know that it comes down to what Mordor said.

Dumb question... easy answer
Dime and Vinnie, they started pantera. Phil's just a doped up loser who cant stick to one fuckin band. I rather listen to DP than Superdope whatever any day

Well you can see where pantera got all of its parts from, but the guys did made a good team, but when they split you could quickly see who played the different parts in Pantera, and all that. But really its like saying who is better at hockey Patrick Roy or Wayne Gretzky, they can't be related really its two different things.

In all honesty, Rex probably has the best chance now.
Phil: Left Pantera for Down and Superjoint. Then he left Down. Hmmmm... In all honesty, neither were as good as Pantera in their time.
Dime and Vinnie: Went on to form a band that, in all honesty, I could easily confuse with most modern bands. They're not band really, but there's nothing that makes me want to give a shit about them. At least Superjoint have the occasional good riff. Plus, Paul Lauchman or whatever seems to be a total Anselmo worshipper, without the point.
Rex: Is producing and playing for Crowbar. Crowbar may not get as much spotlight, but I'm willing to bet they get alot less bullshit.
So neither. I side with Rex.

The whole thing with Phill and his succesful bands is that, he had about 20 side projects, 2 of them were successful. Wow, thats 10%. Phill is just a useless waste of life these days.

It all comes down to a matter of opinion really.
Personally, I thought phil was the shit. Then he started all his sideprojects, which i don't mind. But Now he just seems to be a racist, dope fiend.
I actually like damageplan. But my taste in metal is a bit different than most metalheads.

I really like DamgePlan, except for some songs. I listen to this CD at least once a day at the moment.
I like the sideprojects from Phil, at least the big ones: Down and Superjoint Ritual.
But i was never that deep in Pantera.

I really like down's first album "Nola", but "A bustle.." was mediocre in my opinion.
I've got "Use once and destroy" and it's pretty crazy shit. I like it, but what's phil thinking giving up pantera for shit like that????

superjoing is okay
damageplan sucks
down sucks also, but still better than damageplan
So i'm siding with Dime and Vinnie, however, Dime totally disappointed on Damageplan with uninspired riffs and anemic solos. So i'll side with just Vinnie, at least Vinnie's drummage didn't wane.

Rex only played bass on the album, they have another bassplayer now.
Down is the best sideproject so far.

DamagePlan had a pretty cool song played on one of my metal channels and I tghought it was pretty decent. But seriously Phill is like in almost every hardcore or nu metal band's songs. I wonder how Phil's black metal project ended up, did it suck?

Last week when i saw damageplan, dime gave phil a hard dig.
He told us all that vinnie and himself would never turn their backs on their fans and keep making the music that we wanna hear. Then they played "walk" and "a new level". With that singer it sounded 98% like pantera.
...And before hand dime wailed a solo on a fiddle.....

I don't like any of the side projects. They should all just go back to Pantera where they won't suck.

I agree with whoever sided with Rex man. Phil is a fucking heroin whore, lets face it he can't even keep his eyes open anymore. He's got a million side projects which all suck, superjoint has gay riffs and a fucking horrible drummer, he only has two toms he's fucking basic as shit. Down was some lame fucking hick metal, fuck Phil.
Dime and Vinnie went on to form Pantera II but they had to weaken it up a bit to get it on the radio, so neither of their side projects/new bands suck.
Rex however continues to be a bad ass. Life long friends now enemies all because one of them got addicted to heroin and started talkin shit, cause his friends tried to help him, good shit that herion eh?

Look what it did to Mustaine
Funny though, Aerosmith was writing their best music on the stuff.

You Pantera fans should check out Exhorder and Watchtower... Two bands that heavily influenced Pantera (some say that Pantera completely ripped off both bands, but I never met anyone from either band, so I wouldn't know).

The drummer is shitty, yes. But since you feel that basic drums are shitty you're a retard. Basic drumming is hands down the best. Go listen to Rush.

As fun as it is to laugh at the fact that Pantera were glam rock poseurs, I have to admit that I still think the album "Power Metal" fucking kicks ass. I guess that was their transition album from hair metal to heavy metal. Their glam stuff mostly sucked, but it was better than shit like Poison or Winger or anything...

I'm just not into the "pants too tight" vocals.

i like SJR a little, they are fast, it would be fun to mosh to. i havent heard much damageplan, only that one song, it was ok, i think down is pretty awesome, but pantera still kills all of them.
so id have to go with opeth, because they are the best band on the planet.

yeh both damage plan and superjoint ritual are prety average metal bands but Vinnie, Dimebag, Phil, and Rex together in PanterA were fukin A .. but i rekon if people didnt know that the ex-pantera members were in SJR and DP .. people would think there pretty good.. everyone had high expectations of how they thought wouldsound. and cos they aint as good as PanterA they fink its shit... ummm if that didnt make sense :S ... basically wat im trying to say is that if some underground band came out with the New Found Power album,, every one would be like fuk theese guys are pretty good.... overall i rekon Phil Anselmo Kiks Ass... but there again.. take phil out of any of panteras song and the song would still rule... hmm but if u take or replace any of the others it would'NT sound so good... hmm i dunno Vinnie , Dimebag, and Rex rule too,,, they should return to be PanterA!! even there latest albums still were awsome and ripped shit of any other band out there.. i rekon they were getting heavier aswell with the Great Southern Trendkill album.. and still sounding original.... i aint sure wether any of this made sense or not oh well... laters

Pantera is Dead
Ben Ratliff of The New York Times is reporting that SUPERJOINT RITUAL, a raw, sloppy hardcore punk band led by former PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo, is on a quixotic mission to convince the world that his new group is better than his old one.
"The exercise is both fun and enervating to watch; it involves a lot of heckling, from the audience and the stage," Ratliff writes. "At one point during the band's Ozzfest set [at the Jones Beach Amphitheater Wednesday evening (July 14)], his back turned to the crowd, after spitting out a mouthful of water, Mr. Anselmo blankly said the unsayable: 'PANTERA's dead.' Nobody liked hearing this.
" 'SUPERJOINT RITUAL are the most dangerous band out there, period!' he seethed. 'We're anti-image; we're anti-everything. All we have is our music. And me.' "

They won't fight, they are grown ups not little quabling kiddies still pissed off over who was right or not.
See superjoint in a small place and they are extremely energetic and very fun, but see them at the ozzfest and you get a large group of unactive people sitting around ignoring them. Superjoint is amazing though, they are playing old school hardcore at it's best (IMO). Down is a very good band, very doomy. Damage plan is the gayest thing I've ever heard. Yes worse than Opeth. Their singer is just so terrible. Without the phil anselmo magic vinnie and dime bag aren't very good to listen to. Pantera is still the best of all those.

This is kind of tough. I've only heard a little Down so no comment there. Superjoint Ritual was good but it lacked something I could never figure out, so I never listen to the album really. Damageplan are good and I like them a lot to but all of there songs are missing something to, so I only listen to that album if I'm bored shitless. Don't get me wrong, I love DP but something's missing. I'm goin' with DP.

I side with Damage Plan. But i really dont like thier vocalist. But i have more respect for them than Phil. Phil just needs to stay with a band. Here in a little while he'll probably quit SJR and do something else even stupider. Hes a dumbass
