Most adept rythm section

Okay, I mean proficiant, not flashy or necessarily "revolutionary". What I mean is which rythm section is tightest, most technically in sync, and whihc can actually do their fucking job. It seems as of late, that people are forgetting what the point of a bass, drumset, and the ocassional rythm guitar is.

Personally, right now I think probably Jack Gibson and Tom Hunting are my favorite. I saw Exodus live a couple weeks back, and they just roared. D.D. Verni and Tim Mallare form Overkill would be up there too, for me at least.

Okay, now argue.

I am always impressed by Suffocation, for their precision and tightness, even when making very strange rythym and or timing changes. Aswell as making some kick ass riffs along the way, and forging a whole new style of metal. Lamb Of God, aswell because it sometimes seems as though its industrial metal, because its very precise. And they are hard working guys. Read in an interview, they always write things they can't yet play, to make themselves better players.

Spawn of Possession and Suffocation are both beyond comprehension; new Martyr songs are incredible too.
EDIT : Cynic, Behold the Arctopus, The Red Chord...

While they are some of the best, they're definately not very tight.

Suffocation and Morbid Angel are still the best, although I wouldn't exactly say they have the market cornered or anything. There isn't a person in the world who listens to Suffocation for the lead work, and despite Azagthoth's occasional brilliance, there aren't many who listen to Morbid Angel for their lead work, either.

Well, the style is just so legato, it's not really meant to be machine sounding like Necrophagist or something.

Even though most of you probably hate them, Jeff and Donnie from Zeke are perfect.

I am always impressed when I listen to goratory (rice on suede is the only one I have). It's so stop-start in places and with lots of tempo changes. Haven't seen them live though.

i am also a huge fan of opeths rhythm section (as some of you mentioned). i know this is considered blasphemy by alot of you, but i think opeths later albums (with both lopez and mendez) are infinitely better because of them.
