Slayer is not difficult, only very fast. Playing any solo perfect, even if its at a slow speed while paying attention to how you sound, will eventially make you better over a short amount of time. Your not going to notice the improvement right away so keep practicing Play solos prefect until you built up to it's right speed or faster without mistakes ( which is your personal opinion ). Keep this up 4-8 hours a day for 2+ years and you will be a guitar solo GOD!!!! No shit!
Also, read the guitar zone sticky threads here and you will have all other queations answered

heres some advice coming from a whole other viewpoint
when i picked up the guitar i was interested in playing perfectly, but not interested in learning perfectly. there was my fault, for years i just screwed around, never learned anything slow, skipped the hard notes in a solo, and glazed over anytime somebody said "learn this slow". i couldnt be bothered with effort. now that i've sat down and learned a few what i thought were IMPOSSIBLE songs, i can say it is much more satisfying to learn a song in chunks and put it together and play it perfectly as opposed to skipping notes and playing sloppily. so, take your time and you will actually end up having more fun.

just practice each individual part of the solo, break it down into sections and learn each section at a slow speed then build up slowly, same goes for leads, some songs have little leads that can be played at break neck speeds just practice them slowly and make sure you respect the timeing it can be really frustrating trying to get everythign into time with the rests and the duration of the notes, but the solo wont sound the same unless everythign is in the right place. but i guess the best advice is patience and practice

Just look at leads as riffs up high, break it down into sections and learn them as if they are riffs.
