Old Marshall Amp-Reliable?

I currently need an amp and so i went on ebay.co.uk and found an old marshall head (1978)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

and i was just wondering whether it would last seeming that its pretty old. I was just wondering whether anyone has experience with playing old marshall's etc and whether they last? and whether u think the amps a good buy?

many thanks

My marshall JMP head is 1980 and it still works fine, fires up quickly enough and sounds great. For metal you'll want an 80's model tho.
