on my electrics i play d'addario .010's and on my acoustic i play light elixers.
i play in standard Eadgbe.

DR black beauties 10-46 for Ed and drop D. ( only use these strings if using active EMG's without a ground )

why only use them with EMG's?
i use Dean Markley nickle steel 9-46 and tune to standard.

DR black beauties have a coating preverting them from being electricaly grounded, but stop string corrosion if you have acid hands like I do. It all depends on your bridge and pickups. DR coated strings MIGHT screw your tone if you have passive pickups, because passive pickups are grounded to you via the bridge and strings. EMG's don't require a ground through the bridge and strings so coated strings work great with them.

I use the 13-56 Dean markley set on my gibson les paul... tunings in C , A and G
and the .11 elexir set on my rg420 ibanez... tuning in D

I use Daddario 10s for Eb. It works well for me. I used to use 9s but they souned like shit when downtuned.
