The Ultimate Metal Pickup
Out of these three pickups... EMG 81, SD-Invader and Dimarzio X2N, Which one do u think is the ultimate bridge pickup to play metal with and why?

id say the invader, cus im not a fan of emg's, and i havent played the dimarzio, but personally id go with a PRS HFS for the bridge, cus PRS makes killer pickups.

Invaders work well in my guitar. EMG hz's are probably the worst pickup ever. But thats only bad one of EMG pickups.

EMG 81, because you should try it. Then you know that it is the best over all metal pick up.
Sorry if I upset anyone. Hehe

I'd say 81, but active pickups are less dynamic than passives (they act as a natural compressor). Dimarzio makes good shit so I'd assume that's a great passive for metal. I've never liked the invader. The EMG-H4 is a good pickup. The other HZs blow but the H4 is good.

Invader has the most gain... does that make it best??? I agree that the PRS HFS pickups are excellent. Their hot.. but versitile.

the invaders, or anything passive with a lot of gain and good tone.
the EMG's are good, but only at one thing, they're a bit too sterile for me.
but its prolly the mostly used metal pickup on the market today

It depends...
I have a set of seckond hand Invaders that I am going to replace my duncan desing's with, and I think the model sounded good at the store. I will have to se how they act in my guitar.

what are your guys' opinions on the ducan JB, i like the sounds they have on the site, but how would you compare them tonally, not on highest gain, with the PRS HFS pickups, cus i am thinking about getting a schecter c-1 classic, and that is the bridge pickup.

The JB is my favorite pickup. I have one on my RR-2 and it kicks so much ass... its high gain, yet has tone and dosent feedback like hell. Its very versitile and itsent just a metal pickup. I havent played a PRS HFS pickups long enough to compare the two, but im sure you wont be disapointed by the JB.

i dig the jb's... not the highest gain pickups... but they actually have a nice thick tone, like alot of gibson and prs pickups.

I liked the JB, but I thought it sounded like my stratocaster... Try to test it in the store.

Its Opinion!! Maybe he likes them for what he plays but they're not that great for what you play. I happen to use them and like them.

i know its opinion... but i always here about how 5150's are the best amps and invaders are the best pickups..... it's a trend.... 5150's are good and so are invaders, but it's just weird how all of a sudden people are like "omg invader this, invader that, don't buy emgs, buy duncans, duncan invaders have the highest gain, blah blah" i just don't get it.
