Absu
This band is from USA, but it uses in their lyrics/theme an ancient scottish mythology.

I wonder what Scottish DM would sound like. I would hope that there would be some distorted A tuned bagpipes.

lol that would be weird... scottish black metal?
try to pick up a local metal magazine and look for like "Up and Rising Bands" or something like that. About the best metal/rock mag i get where i live is kerrang and that has a scumscene area, as they call it, with all local acts promoting there ep's or whatever - its a fair bet

Not really, but their location can influance their sound sometimes. Think of what a DM band from India would sound like... might be cool!

Hey Guys, I'm a Scottish Native, and 'My' Band Nihilum are just about setting up, getting a few practises in then we are going to gig, and throw down some demos, so you will find out what Scottish DM/BM sounds like soon enough!

I haven't really heard of that many Scottish black metal bands but even though i am Scottish and natural enemy of the English i will recommend a band called EbonyLake if you like medieval/black sky/ye olden castle type music.
ps. a lot of good bands use bagpipes or bagpipe effects such as Korn, Graveworm and lots more.

1) I hope that Korn comment was sarcasm.
2) Do you have a link to Eboney Lake's music?

Primordial is Irish Black Metal...thats close...
Sorry to hijack this thread, but everyone say some black/death metal bands from weird (and by weird I mean, not too common for metal) countries:
Primordial- Ireland
Orphaned Land- Israel
Kekal- Indonesia
Unearthly- Brazil
Elysian Fields- Greece

1. I used to like Korn still like some songs.
2. I dont think that EbonyLake are that well known. i found my CD by chance in a local shop. if you really want to hear them you will probably have to buy their CD off the internet or i could send an mp3 of them. (probably the strangest metal cd i own)

WerWolf Division is a scottish BM band, they had (or still have, im not sure) a tape out called "Horses March Over Britain" which has a few of their own tracks and a cover of War by Burzum. I don't know if they have anything recent out, so check the metal-archives or something if you're interested

KoRn's new tune Hypocrite has a pretty nice sound. Has that incredible "eeerrr" in it.
I am a Scotsman! And I play jazz/ambient death/post-thrash metal inspired by Zen and my Pictish ancestry. My band and I, Transcension, are hoping to push some boundaries when we get going. Mix Pictish energy with the mental enhancement of Zen. Imagine...
OK, it's not exactly black metal but our soup has a black flavour here and there.
