Randall Bass Combo

I've layed down 700 bucks on a brand new Randall bass combo (the 200 BX I think...I can't remember), bah. Anyway, it's 200w, has four 10s in it, and will end up costing me $1099 AU, knocked down from $1399.

Good deal, or not?

well, what's a good deal...

you've knocked down the price quite a bit so I guess its a more fair deal now, still I have no idea how much a australian dollar is worth

we don't have a lot of Randalls over here in europe, the european brands reign supreme here, I've got a H&K bassbase 400 tube myself, german quality

Randall doesn't make crappy amps though, I've only played a bunch of their guitar heads though, the warhead and those really cheap-ass guitar tops (RH series?), but 200 watt isn't redicilously loud, I have 400 watts and most of the time I do have my amp cranked over half the volume at shows, it just depends where you are using it and how big the stages are that you play (and if you've got a descent soundguy, which doesn't happen all to often..)

4x10 is ideal, best way to go speaker wise, 2x15 has a slow response and 2x12 lacks punch. (if theres no bagend or david-eden tag on the cabs.. )

for a combo, it must be pretty big though. but if you're not gonna move it a whole lot that won't be a problem, I used to have a big combo, sold that and got seperate head/cabs, which was better in transport.

Ahh eventually I want to work my way up to a 400w then in the distant future a 600w setup. Ironically your setup sounds like my next ideal purchase in a few years

I'm only just starting out, so small venues it is. The Randall packs quite a punch. Thankyou for the future advice however

n/p, I can be nice too if I try really hard. haha

you should be fine for small/medium size venues, especially because its a 4x10, thats why its punchy (and most certainly in the mids) must be a beast to carry around though!
