Solid state is fine, tube I have never played, I heard it is the best though , for me I just want to know.


My band has a bad-ass PA system so if I just used a head through that would that be alright ?

Go try some out. Buying used is your best option. And you will need a cab as well, then mic it to the pa.

I guess you could run the head through the PA, but using a mic through to the PA gives you a better sound. You have better control over your tone if you let the head do the job of pushing a cab.

As for tube or SS amps... both have their pros and cons. Read around the forum, because I've seen some good info on what your asking. I use SS but I've used tubes before. I think you should make the final choice based on what you find is the best.
