Though this may get closed, I have to say that I have only been going through the threads here for a few hours, but you guys are huge inspiriations. You all seem to be great guitar players, and it makes me wanna be a better player. I have been playing for two and a half years now and I can't even play the intro to MOP and I just recently learned how to tremelo pick.

And also this site has already provided a huge amount of tips and exercises to increase my speed and accuracy. So thanx for helping out lazy asses like me and keep it up.

Quick question, its been bothering me all day. When I tremelo pick any string other than the low E, the side of my thumb, rubs up against adjacent strings. Is this normal? Same happens when I begin to pick really fast, like the 0-0-0-0-0-0 part of Metallica's One. But its the side of the padding not the knuckle like when tremelo picking. Is this normal or do I just have a fat ass thumb?

Sounds to me like you're holding your pick funny.

When i saw the cannibal corpse video "the making of wretched spawn", i realized that i wasn `t the half of the guitar plaier i thought i was, and this thing means that I NEED to practice " a little bit" more. But i love this sensation, when you see that you can rweach a lot of higher than you are, but with the work of every day, of course.

Well I'm grasping it between the pads of the thumb and index finger. I am told this is how Paul Gilbert does it. Also I am using Jazz III picks, and all my other picks i filed down to be roughly the same size. Do you think I should try using a bigger pick as well as changing how I hold the pick?

See, I dont know how you are holding it. You might be doing it right. I dont know. Bigger picks might help, but thats all personal preferences. I would just suggest practicing more until you got it down.

the total andrenaline rush i get when i get my guitar and start playin to Inflames or Finntroll is like nothing else, i have been playin for 4 months but i took 9 years of piano before that so my finger speed was already there and it took little time for me to pick it up and start playing Crazy Train and Stairway to Heaven. but those are just songs to get started right, right so keep workin at it and just let it come to u. any talented musician just lets the guitar do the talkin'
