will a change of tubes affect the sound in a hybrid amplifier as much as in a tube amp? i mean changing from like el-34 to 6l6 or 12ax7.

you can't change from el 34 to 12ax7.

12ax7's are preamp tubes.

hybrid amps all only have preamp valves/tubes, don't they?

ofcourse you can hook up another 12ax7 in it, with more gain then the stock one, but you'de have to know which tube you are running now

Musicman RD100, there were two 6l6gc tubes in it.

ah, I don't know much about musicman amps really, but changing tubes will allways affect your sound, but if you change to tubes with another bias the characterisics will be different too

hybrid amps are usually a tube preamp with s.s. poweramp.... 6l6's are poweramp tubes so if you have 6l6's that means you have a tube poweramp.... which i havent really heard of any amps that are set up like that. but i'm no expert with musicman stuff.

you can change from 6l6's to el34s, but 12ax7's are preamp tubes.

You cant change the type of tube unless you have a bias switch. If not, you can get one installed for around $50. And it will make a difference in tone.
