oooOOoOo, I just saw it now...wow. It's only gruesome and freaky because it's real. Movies aren't like that because movies would draw it out. The simplicity of it i think is the only factor that makes it look real though...isn't that strange? Gory movies make thing sooo bloody and gory, and after watching too many horror movies and immunity from them, one never realizes how anatomically wrong that is. I'm sure there was a ton of blood in that video, it was just fuzzy and not clear to see, but heh, a movie would have had blood and pieces of neck squirting all over the camera. I don't think I would have given them the pleasure of my fearful scream personaly. VILLA PARK – Seniors in English teacher Stephen Arcudi's fourth-period class at Villa Park High School had just taken a test on "Pride and Prejudice'' when he invited everyone up to his desk.

Saying that atrocities are occurring on both sides of the Iraqi war, Arcudi played the entire video footage on his laptop of the beheading of American citizen Nicholas Berg by hooded Islamic militants.

A group of students gathered to view the graphic footage Wednesday, which included showing Berg's severed head. Some stayed in their seats.

Judith Ruiz, 17, stepped up without much thought. But after seeing the scene unfold, she was upset - even though she doesn't believe her teacher had any bad intentions.

"You don't expect to go to English class and see a guy's head get chopped off,'' Ruiz said.

Responding to complaints the next day from a student and a parent, Villa Park High officials put Arcudi on administrative leave Friday as they investigate the incident, which has outraged some parents and students.

"I think (showing the killing) is extremely damaging,'' said Tina Barger, 43, whose two sons, Jacob, 17, and Hamilton, 16, attend Villa Park High. "I know adults who've seen it who are shocked and stunned.''

The footage of Berg's beheading, available on the Internet but not broadcast by the mainstream media, also was shown to students in Arcudi's sixth-period senior English class.

"This should not have happened,'' Orange Unified Superintendent Robert L. French said. "I'd be curious about how he worked this into his (lesson). ... We're talking about young, impressionable minds.''

Arcudi, new to Villa Park High this year, could not be reached for comment.

Some students were not as critical of Arcudi.

"I think his approach may have been wrong, but whoever saw it, that was their choice,'' said Heather Beck, 18, a senior.

"He didn't force anybody to watch it,'' said Chris Guerrero, 15, a sophomore.

For Hamilton Barger, a sophomore, the graphic footage effectively underscored Arcudi's reported point that barbarism occurs on both sides of the conflict.

"It helps people know why we're in this war and what kind of people we're fighting,'' he said.

Villa Park High officials visited Arcudi's classes Thursday and Friday and apologized to his students, said Cheryl Cohen, assistant superintendent of education for Orange Unified. He has not been teaching since Wednesday.

High school teachers must get approval by a committee to introduce materials that are not part of the state-approved curriculum, Cohen said.

In any case, showing Berg's beheading would "never, ever, ever been approved,'' she said.

"We're not talking college here,'' she said. "This is a public high school. ... Why would any teacher do this? This is unacceptable. ... In no way would even voluntarily letting students see this video be acceptable.

"This was not approved, not supported and not condoned by the high school or the district.''

NBC-TV reported Friday that teachers at two San Diego-area schools - El Capitan High and Grossmont High - were removed from their classrooms for showing the Berg video or still images of it to students.

In addition to showing the footage to his two senior English classes, Arcudi wrote the Web site on the blackboard for curious kids in his three sophomore English classes, Cohen and several students said.

Some parents believe Arcudi should be punished for showing the footage.

"It's not right,'' said Teresa Arshad, waiting for her son to get out of school Friday. "It's too graphic. (Arcudi) should be suspended.''

Arcudi has the right to appeal the decision to put him on leave, but it is unclear what action - if any - may be taken against him, said Paul Pruss, president of the Orange Unified Education Association.

Arcudi is a vocal and political teacher, said Matt Alcala, 18, a former student who graduated from Villa Park High.

"He can be real loud, real emotional,'' Alcala said.

Arcudi showed the beheading footage to students to make the political point that there is another side to widely reported abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. forces, said Joe Bakhos, 17, who was among those in Arcudi's class in Room 209 just before lunch Wednesday.

"I thought you guys should know that (Islamic militants) do crazy stuff, too,'' Alcala said Arcudi told the class.

About two-thirds of the roughly 30 students in the class crowded around to see the footage, Alcala and Ruiz said.

Alcala declined to watch it.

"I thought it was weird,'' he said. "I didn't want to see some guy getting his head chopped off.''

Reaction of students who saw the video varied from "Oh, that's sad'' to "whatever,'' Ruiz said.

"Some were disgusted by it,'' she said.

I sent Mr. Arcudi a long letter about the subject and wished him the best. I think that what he did, being right or wrong, does not make him a bad teacher. People who have had a chance to be his pupil will most likley feel the same way. He is a great teacher.

"Given the incomprehensible jungle of information, the very first question, when viewing this video of an American civilian, N. Berg"s execution, should be whether it is even true?
There appear to be a few problems with it, casting doubt on its authenticity. If these questions aren"t answered, one should be wary of the entire matter and be advised not to give in to the patriotic blindness brought on by the emotional charge this video packs.

Consider these inconsistencies with the video before making up your mind:

1) CIA claims it has examined the video and concluded that the hooded figure is Zaqrawi, a high level al-Qaeda operative. However, anyone who has seen the video will attest to the fact that there is no way to identify anyone from it, including the victim. Second, according to an US military report in April "03, Zaqrawi was killed in the bombing of Falluja. CIA does not elaborate whether Zaqrawi has magically sprung back to life or whether the April report was wrong.

2) The US media claimed that Zaqrawi lost a leg in 2001. Now, it says that he did not lose his leg after all. This flip flop seems too coincidental as the purported figure in the video doesn"t appear handicapped. The US does not elaborate on which intelligence is wrong.

3) The US media says the audio says that N. Berg was executed in retaliation to the US prison abuse. The reaction of the media was far too quick. It moved straight to using it in making a comparison between prison "humiliation" and a "beastly killing" saying to the shocked public "Look, we only humiliated them in the prison and look at what the animals do to us." It was quick to point out that what the terrorists do to Americans is far worse than what the US is doing to the Iraqis.

There are several problems with this. First, there have been numerous reported deaths in the US prisons caused by severe beatings so comparing "humiliation" to a death is the wrong comparison. Second, the tortures and abuses have gone on for over a year. If al-Qaeda were in the business of avenging prison abuse, it would have already done it and probably on several occasions. Otherwise, it means that
al-Qaeda gets their information from CNN or that it just happened to be a coincidence matching Abu Ghraib prison pictures with this video. It"s very unlikely that al-Qaeda would and could engage in this synchronized US media play. The timing of the video release and the media attempts to whip up an anti-Islamic frenzy suggests a media ruse timed perfectly to deflect the mounting outrage and condemnation of the US military.

4) The voice on the video says that an offer was made to the US military to exchange N. Berg for "some of the prisoners in Abu Ghraib". The US has not commented on this.

5) The Bergs claim their son was detained by the US and are blaming their son"s death on the US military but the US says that N. Berg was never detained and instead was offered a free plane ride from Iraq. It does, however, seem that in order to offer a plane ticket, the US military must have had some dealing with N. Berg. In any case, N. Berg disappeared when in US custody.

6) The victim in the video is wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, the kind seen in pictures of Guantanamo inmates. It"s hard to believe that al-Qaeda terrorists would be supplying their victims a regulation outfit. None of the recently kidnapped hostages in Iraq (Japanese and Italian) wore any uniform outfits whatsoever.

7) [WARNING: Reader"s discretion advised] A human head contains 1.5 gallons of blood yet the freshly decapitated head shown in the video is leaking none. Neck artery would squirt a foot long geyser of blood. There is no evidence of that either. Only one answer lends itself here: the video was doctored. Either a portion was clipped out or the beheading never took place as shown, with the possibility of the victim being already dead.

8) The victim never resisted the killing. Even when on the ground, only one person sufficed to completely subdue N. Berg.

This article aims at proving or alleging nothing. The point is to provoke doubt and hopefully stave off a few readers from becoming an easy emotional target and a news puppet.

Transient when you came in with the remarks about morphine all of a sudden there was a commercial on the tube for Stratera for adult ADD. I thought that was rather appropriate.
My dad was on morphine before he died of cancer. He talked about going fishing with his favorite aunt when he was a kid. And the day before he died, he kept asking for us to get the onions off his arms. He went in his sleep.
Walpurgis other grandpa had some type of surgery and when he was coming out of it he thought there was fat, naked black women dancing at the foot of his bed ! He didn't remember a thing though. That was funny.

About Berg... Wasn't there speculation by Iraqi's that he was a spy ? Maybe it was staged, They aren't Iraqi's but our CIA and they're trying to get a man without identity to move about the country.

As for the teacher bit, I can understand parents being upset, but I think we are way too pacifistic here. They were just protecting their children. I hope they don't slap him with children's rights violations or he will be screwed.

execution has also raised numerous questions concerning its authenticity.

Even at first glance, internet bloggers were asking on Thursday why Nick Berg
was wearing an orange jumpsuit � just like US prisoners wear.
Other net-surfers point to the unlikely timing of the executioner's dubbed
announcement that Berg was to die for "Iraqi prisoner abuse".

Berg was last seen alive on 10 April, when his father Michael Berg believes he
was killed - two weeks before the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal broke in the world's media.
Some discussions focus on the timing of the video's release - guaranteed to
divert attention from the outrage regarding US torture of Iraqis.

Video oddities
There are plenty of questions raised concerning the video too. The body is
completely motionless even as the knife is brought to bear � not so much as an instinctive wriggle.
More graphically, some claim that cutting the throat's artery would cause a
significant amount of blood. But little emerges and when the head was raised
not a drop of blood is seen to fall.

In a possible explanation, one discussion room member suggested that Berg was killed and then beheaded later.
However, the circumstances of the video release are also strange. A Reuters
journalist in Dubai first named the Muntada al-Ansar al-Islami website as the
source for the video at www.al-ansar.biz.
Although the site has now been shut down, Aljazeera.net had looked at the site within ninety minutes of the story breaking and could find no such video
footage.
But Fox News, CNN and the BBC were all able to download the footage from the Arabic-only website and report the story within the hour.


Days leading to death
Other questions presented by bloggers are Berg's peculiar circumstances in the weeks before his death. Why would a private Jewish American citizen choose to wander around Iraq by himself?
Additionally, some have pointed out that his last email on 6 April to his family
stated he wished to return home as soon as possible � yet the FBI claim he
refused an offer of help to get home.

In the wider press, FBI involvement has also generated much discussion as to why Berg was really arrested and detained for two weeks in Mosul.
The unemployed visitor was suspicious enough for Iraqi police to arrest him �
with FBI knowledge.
He had only just been released from prison where he had been held for 13 days by Iraqi police for reasons he said he did not know.


Family blames government
A US newspaper claims an official familiar with the case knew that FBI agents
had interogated Berg, but had left him for two weeks because he was in Iraqi -not American - custody.
But the official was unable to clarify the legal difference between the two,
given the US occupation.
On 5 April, Berg's family filed a suit in federal court in Philadelphia -
contending that their son was being held illegally by the US military in Iraq.
The next day he was released and left to get himself home.

The last time the family heard from him was on 9 April, his headless body was
found near Mosul on 8 May.
"That's really what cost my son his life, the fact that the United States

Some bloggers focused on the accent of the purported executioner. Many deny the accent is either Iraqi or Jordanian - while claims the voice is Egyptian or Iranian have been made.
The Jordanian accused of the beheading Berg is himself believed to have been
killed in March, according to two Islamist groups.
An eight-page leaflet circulated this week in Falluja, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in the Sulaimaniya mountains of northern Iraq during a US bombing.

But even if it was the Jordanian, one discussion room member observes his face is so well-known that "why would he bother to cover it?"

I think this video will need some kind of independent expert to analyse it. That's if there is an independent one around of course. Even if there is, I doubt the Bush administration would apoint him/her anyway. But at the moment their is a doubt as to the authenticity of it, so it needs to be investigated.

In a somewhat related subject, the editor of the Daily Mirror (one of the largest tabloid newspapers in Britain) was sacked for sanctioning the inclusion of faked photographs to accompany a front page story on the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by British soldiers.

I'm not saying that the abuse stories are false but at best this is rank bad journalism and at worst deception of the public. It took about a week before The Mirror admitted that the pictures were fake after widespread comment on the inconsistancies of the photographs.

The difference with these two seemingly similar stories is that the organisation at the centre of the conspiracy is different. In the case of the faked pictures, that organisation was just a newspaper and therefore all that happened when the true nature of the photographs was revealed was that an editor got sacked. Perfectly expendable in the eyes of the British government. However, in the video, it is the US government themselves that will be ultimately culpable. The US government are highly unlikely to consider themselves expendable so the public will probably never find out the true veracity of the video.

As for the Villa Park scandal, it turns out that the girl that reported this to her mother who then took action is, if my sources are correct, failing. That would make it a TOTAL conflict of intrest. What better way to get rid of a teacher that fails you? (He is a tuff teacher, too). When 9-11 happened my one son told me thought it was cool to see. Then he started hearing more about it and saw others' reactions to it. I think he eventually realized it wasn't something staged and was a disaster. He drove his hoopty back to his house about an hour from here to see his bio mom. We didn't know if his car would make it, but I encouraged him to go.

Not to get off topic, but have any of you seen the Zapruda film? It's the filming of Kennedy being shot, but from a diffrent angle. It's pretty freaking obvious that Kennedy wasn't assassinated by (name excapes me), and that it was very well planned out. So if you believe that the goverment had some part in it then you wonder why. And if you don't, then why would the CIA withhold the classified documents pertaning to the assassination for 50 YEARS? This is what is believed. Kennedy, who was not part of many societys had alot ignorance to what was going on, being that they couldn't fully trust him because he never went through any initations to get into any societys (Ex: Bilderberg, freemasons, Trilatery C., ect.). Kennedy found out about some drug trafficing and who knows what else and threatens to tell the public if they don't cleam up the act. They cannot let this happen so, they kill him. Green was the driver (I think thats his name) of the car and was a CIA agent. The video shows him turning around and shooting him in the head. Bullshit you say? Mabye. But why was Kennedy transfered picked up from the hospital he was suppose to go to, and brought to a indisclosed one? Why was Kennedy's brain taken from the autopsy? I've also heard that people that where close enough to see this have died since then, or cannot be contacted.
1.) To edit a video that well, isn't possible for that time era.
2.) Everytime Willam Cooper tried to bring it on public T.V., his show was canceled (serveral times) for unexpected reasons.
