Malmsteen's ego for the most part is justified. And if he sucks, then what does that make every guitar player on this board? I'm positive noone here can out play or out write him.
And before you ask the question of who is a better guitarist, the question of what makes a good guitarist must be answered.

Yeah, I think what makes a good guitarist is being able to put good riffs to other tracks. Being able to play something doesnt mean your good. I could spen a whole week learning eruption by van halen and then know it. But does that make me good? Nope.

And "good" is a measure of opinion. I can bust faster solos than my rhythm guitarist, but he can think up the sickest emo chord songs on acoustic just off the top of his head. Whos better? Depends on who you ask.

id have to say randy rhoads because he was and always will be a god on guitar. 
dont get me wrong yngwie is amazing but i just prefer randy. |
