they only come in 10-60 and 11-70, i have tried them, the low end is way too heavy for my taste, i wouldnt got any thicker than a 52 on a set of tens.
has anyone ever tried any of the d'addario or ghs half gauge sets?

they're only good if you tune down imo, but i play in standard with d'addario .10's, anything thicker would be to stiff and uncomfortable. plus sig. shit is way over hyped and over priced.

I used the regular GHS Boomers a few times, they are a good set of strings, but I like my D'addario better.

I get them for 3.99 at sam ash.... i think thats pretty cheap for strings. I like the mix of low and high strings, but i really only use them to practice speed and technique... after i play on thsoe for 30 min ill play with some 10's and damn its so much easier.

Actually he doesn't tune that low often, just for a couple songs, maybe even only one (final solution), normally his lowest is Drop C. And his sig. boomers are either the same price or 1 dollar more than normal boomers which ocmes out to about 5 bucks here, which is cheaper than most other brands and boomers still sound good. I think D'Addarios are too bright.

i buy my d addarios in bulk, 14 packs for $30 from a local hookup. thats soo cheap, i don't know if they're even making any money off of me.
kb cans, my advice to you is find a place online that will ship to au. then just buy bulk. you'll save tons.

I've never tried Zakk's signature boomers but I use boomers and I like them. I play .10-.46. Is there much of a difference between reg. boomers and zakks signature ones?

yes, Zakk's set is a mixed set. With thinner guage g, b, and e strings. Plus zakk;s E, A, And D strings are thick as fuck. Is a very ncie mix acually

Holy shit! 70? What the hell is going on in the world of guitar strings? My 7 string is 10-52! What kind of nut are you using? Does that string even fit your nut? I think thats almost to big to fit through a guitar machine head. Doesn't a guitar have to be special built to use that kind of string gauge? How low do you need to tune your guitar to get the sound your after? I would just get a bass! Does a guitar amp even register that low of a freq?

You can just file the nut a bit if it doesn't fit. My soon-to-be seven string goes to 58, what's up with your 52 that's weak. You might have to get a different tuner for the 70, or just file out the inside if that's possible. Those are his low tune sigs, so I bet he uses them for when he tunes to Drop C, and on Final Solution he tunes everything to standard but the E string to B. He does some crazy stuff. He also has beast fingers, i mean the guy can do crazy and wide vibrato on those thick-ass strings. And the amp by all means can pick it up. It just gives much more bass and thickens up the sound. I doesn't turn it into a bass guitar.

Yes, the world of strings has changed if people are using 10-70's. Filing the guitar nut is a major modification and there is no going back once done. I like the 10-52 on my 7 because they are easier to shred and shake... I know they may sound like a weak gauge to some but they work great, even for drop A tuning.
Zack's amp's have a ton of overhead power for his low tuning. I know some amps can handle it but many can't. I like zack's sound but those strings may never work for me. They all belong to Zack and everyone else that wants them. I just have a hard time playing fast with strings that big. Plus I would live in fear of my guitar going "SNAP"

Oh, it might be like what I've got now. I use .10(e) .13(b) .17(g) from my .10's pack and then i use one gauge lower on the rest. I do that so I can play a long time if i want and so it doesnt sound like a pussy on the low end. plus my les paul needs to be refretted so it makes it easier to bend.

i play in standard E with a regular set of 10's
.010 .013 .017 .026 .036 .046
i used to play 9's, but i kept breaking strings and stuff, so when i switched to 10's i got tighter tone with a smoother crunch and now i don't break strings as much either.(that also has a bit to do with a change of pick thickness too...1 mm to .73 mm)

Right now I'm using DR .011-.050 for e but theyre too loose so I orded some GHS low tune boomers that are .011-.053. I dont see how its possible to use .042 for e, I have my saddle all the way back and .50 still flops around.

damn, what tuning do you play in? for standard tuning a .046 works great for my low E. if i did alot of detuning i'd probably go thicker.

damn, something is probably wrong with your guitar if a .050 tuned to E is flopping around.
