Lightbulb drum gear

right now i have an aging Tama 7 piece swingstar
evans heads on everything
sabian b8 (cheap cymbals) 14' hats, 20"ride, 14 + 16" crashes and a 10" splash
and im using a DW5000 pedal and sometimes a pearl standard double bass ( i guess it is?)

im looking to up grade, and as far as gear goes i want something alot better.

mainly cymbals. what brands and series are the best for death metal drummers? i liked the cymbals Suffocations drummer had but i didnt get to see what they were. is there anyother gear i should know about?

Why don't you people just go to a music store and check out some cymbals and stuff for your own. Don't you want to buy stuff YOU like?

Anyway: Go to http://www.serlui.nl/ and click Zildjian 2004 in the second column. Buy some (16"), 17" and 18" crashes and just test some rides. Don't go lower then 16". You need an agressive ride, I'm thinking about buying an Istanbul ride. But it's your choice and you will have to like what you buy, so check out some stuff in music stores.

i would do that but the nearest music store... employees are paid on commission and they are sooooooooo anal about everything. so they will bug you about cymbals and try to sell you anything even if its crap. and so i stear away from there because it drives me insane. i deffinately like zildjians better than sabians. been using sabians for a while now and have had a few differerent series and they dont have the sound that i want. thanx for helping though.

Well, just kick them away and find something by yourself. Test some stuff and choose something you like, I hope you can hear/see when something is crap. Or else go to that store, test some stuff, let us know what u liked and maybe some of us can tell if it's good or crap.

I bought Zildjians 17 and 18" crashes and they sound cool, I even got about 100 euros discount.

i went to a store and tried out some zildjian A customs up in seattle, WA. and i tested some zildjian K customs. i liked the K customs better but the guy at the store i went to said he'd give me any A custom cymbal for $100. they usually run about 120 a cymbal so im thinking thats what im gonna go in on. a customs sound pretty good to me anyways. im thinking about getting a 16 and maybe an 18. i've never play any crash/rides. what do you think about them? worth the money at all. or do you think just a reg ride is better?

sucky thing is that our band just lost our practice space and all the storage units around are full. so it'll be a while before i get to play anything. maybe an entire band will die and then we could pick up their space.
