Metalcore & Hardcore :)
Metalcore and Hxc is rarely talked about on these forums. To me Metalcore and hxc is the best type of metal does anyone feel the same ? Maybe its still fairly new to most metalheads. Some ppl feel this new style of metal is fake and the way they dress is not ''metal'' what ever the fuck that means. anyway
ive been listening to metalcore, hxc for 4 years now and my top 5 bands are:
The Black Dahlia Murder, Blood Has Been Shed, Sky Came Falling, Prayer for cleansing, it Dies Today. For those who havent heard those bands check em out...brutal as fuck with such emotion. anyone else who likes this type of music list your top 5 bands...maybe ill learn of some new kick ass bands

Metalcore is the new metal "trend". Not that I have anything against it, I can tolerate it more than nu-metal, but I just can't get into it.

Metalcore is OK but I prefer noise/math/whatever-it's-called-now-core (which often gets included within metalcore). I can't stomach the vast majority of Hardcore though. But anyway, here are my lists (in no particular order):
Noise/mathcore:
1. Dillinger Escape Plan
2. Drowningman (RIP)
3. Converge
4. Candiria
5. Botch
Metalcore:
1. The Hope Conspiracy
2. Stamping Ground (UK)
3. Underule (UK)
4. Burnt By The Sun
5. KsE

Yeah, moreso Dillinger I reckon. When I first heard Calculating Infinity, I couldn't make head nor tail of it with all the weird time signatures, blast beating (completely unexpected - I thought blasting only occured in DM and BM at the time!) and super fast jazz leads going on. It is one of those albums that gets better with each listen and the musicianship on that record is some of the most impressive I've heard.

The Red Chord are the only metalcore band I like and they are very metal and quite technical. I hate hardcore and the whole scene.

Hardcore is now beginning to start being called part of the punk rock genre. And I hate the vocals.

Converge is awesome, but I don't know about them being harcore. As for hardcore, I think it is extreamly redundant, overdone, and boring. It all sounds like a carbon copy to me, espically the breakdowns.

No other band typifies this more than Hatebreed if you ask me. The first single off their "new" album sounds exactly the same as the first single off their last album. Bore me to tears, they do.
Converge on the other hand are masters of their trade. When's their new album out? I've not seen an interview or any news on them for a while now but they seem to have been in the studio for the past year or something.

2nd stage will suck. I wish there wasn't so many of those bands... Like maybe one death metal band... That would be cool. Main stage is going to be better. SSSLLLAAAYYYEEERRR!!! PRIEST!!! Last years main stage totally fucking BLEW... Korn, Disturbed, Marlyn Manson, Chevelle ? ? ? ? ? Fuck that. The 2nd stage last year blew too. This year will be much better.

Check my list of metalcore bands on the previous page. I reckon you'll like 4 out of 5 (with KsE being the exception). Stampin' Ground ( www.stampin-ground.co.uk) and Underule (check this link for more info: http://www.sonicdeath.co.uk/reviews...age.asp?aID=367) are particularly excellent and are more riff based than most metalcore bands.
EDIT: Actually, swap out KsE in my list for a UK band called Onedice. How could I forget them?! These guys are awesome. Their album, Life, is 9 songs and 22 minutes long and it's simply amazing. It's hard to find info on these guys but they're on Infernal Records.

They got that wussy emo vocals going on. I FUCKING HATE THAT EMO SHIT. Mostly because my sister listens to emo and it annoys me. Then I just plug my cd player into amp and blast Pit of Zombies by Cannibal Corpse. She gets mad and its funny.
I also got this Shadows Fall shirt (ok band, I like them) that says "eating emo kids for breakfast" and my sister got mad at me for it.

this is thread is old but whatever
a few months ago i listened to a bit of hXc and didnt really mind, infact i started to enjoy it alot
after a few months it just got old to me though
but some of my favourite hXc bands are:
xThrowdownx (i just gotta repsect how insanely sXe they are, even though sXe is gay)
From autumn to ashes
Nj bloodline
Raised fist
in my mind none of these bands have any real staying power except for FATA

i dunno i like some hc, metalcore, blackmetal, powermetal, punk, classical, neo-classical, flamenco, fingerstyle, spanish, i don't think i'll ever find a genre that i like everyband of. but i must admit i love hc dancing alot more than the typical run in a circle pushing pit..... just the first moment when the band starts to play and a buuuuuuuuuuuuunch of people push everone back to make room in the middle for hc dancing.... pure excitement!!!

Hardcore, emo, screamo, metalcore. all for the fags, you know the gay kids who dye their hair black and comb it all to one side, with those gay glasses, and ass tight, shirt and pants, who whine not sing whine through every song. Holy fuck i hate those pussies just talking about it makes me enraged. Oh yea and don't get me started on their gay ass dancing or whatever the fuck that is, perfect opportunity to fucking knock one of those fags out.

Listen to "Camilla Rhodes".
Granted, the lead singer looks fruity as fuck but these guys can fucking bring it, heavier than a lot of "tr00" metal.

I don't mind some Metalcore...i don't really catergorize it as metalcore but then again I don't even know what are the qualifications for a band to be metalcore. Anyways ones i do like are:
The Black Dahlia Murder
As Hope Dies
Prayer for Cleansing
Hardcore I can't get into for some reason.

Metalcore is less poser than Nu-Metal, but still poser-ish none the less! Thrash will own all metal forever!!!!!!!!

Get Jane Doe by Converge - it's absolutely essential if you want to expand your metalcore collection. Jacob Bannon is an absolute dervish in his vocal delivery and the guitars are crushingly heavy. If you're after KsE style metalcore then look elsewhere, but this album takes you on an intense journey to metalcore fulfilment and as the album's last death throes fade into oblivion you'll sit back in awe of the mastery of the previous 50 minutes.
Also try the brilliant Cold Blue by The Hope Conspiracy - after 22 minutes of whirlwind fury and buzzsaw riffs you'll be wondering how you ever got by without hearing them. Ten songs of pure energy that will have you reaching for the repeat button in no time.
Other bands/albums to check out:
Drowningman (RIP) - Rock And Roll Killing Machine. This is one of those albums that gets better with each listen - genius. Simon Brody's delivery is excellent and the guitarists rarely play the same thing as each other but it works to perfection.
Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity. Again, an album that just keeps getting better and better with each listen. You'll find some nice blast-beating coupled with angular riffs in stark contrast to calm passages and jazzy interludes. This album is a perfect example of a group of guys who are perfect exponents of complex and technical music.
Stamping Ground - Carved From Empty Words. A mixture of riffs that Slayer would be proud of and HC beatdowns. Unlike hardcore however, they have that little bit extra that keeps your attention for more than 3 minutes.

Someone recommended the red chord in another thread and from what I can tell, they're pretty good. I would also recommend bleeding through, from here on and 100 demons.

As I lay dying is good too, their song 94 hours is pretty much straight up melodic death.

man...I listened to a couple songs by converge, and im not a big fan of the vocals. I can't stand vocals that don't even sound like words. It just seems like a big mess to me. You can barely even hear their guitars

Agreed - somewhat. This album I think is to fast paced and aggressive for metalcore. I would put this close to grindcore. It is a great album either way. Espically Heaven in Her Arms! FUCK that song gest me off!

You guys should check out Arkangel, xMaroonx, Heaven Shall Burn and Destiny, I'm pretty sure you'll like them.
as for the chaotic shit, Dillinger Escape Plan.
and more hardcore oriented metalcore, congress, Deadlock and Caliban.
if you want I can upload some mp3's.

are you saying that anybody who doesnt try to sound like an evil satanic bastard and constantly trying to make a less human-like sound with his voice is alot better than some1 who can shout and sing? you need to widen your tastes my friend..
as for metalcore bands:
The Black Dahlia Murder
KsE
Stampin Ground
As I Lay Dying
theyre all good.
also hardcore isnt metal, metalcore is the cross between hardcore and metal, so it is ok to be mentioned here, but hardcore shouldnt.. (everytime i die, poison the well)

Now all you do is find my post, not even read it and have a go at me for it. for that, i think you are a nob, and that you should do what you are telling me to do:

well i like arkangel..but i have to agree with this. not completely the same...but they just don't have any variety. not to mention its pretty easy to play. if you like punk and metal..you will probably like them..just don't expect to be blown away by anything new/ground breaking.
hah found this randomly online and thought it would be enjoyed by some people here.

Forums are for people to discuss things, no one could give two shits about what you think about the things they say. You told someone to widen their tastes because they wanted an example of metalcore that didnt have fruity radio friendly choruses and predictable breakdowns, and you took this to mean he only wants satan himself to sing each and every lyric. And that MY FRIEND, is retarded.

ever heard about bands like minor threat? teen idles? black flag? dead kennedys? only to name the most prominent...
what some (stupid supid) people nowadays call hardcore has nothing to do with real hardcore AT ALL. it is mere bad metal or metalcore they talk about here (remember biohazard etc.?). this is a style that (obviously) came from metal whereas hardcore came from punk. full stop.
any further questions?

Is that explanation the only reason you decided to join metaltabs.

check out Burst. They opened for Mastodon and Opeth and i liked them, so i looked them up and they're pretty good.
they're from gothenburg, sweden and they're different cause they have a sort of progressive sound, i'd say they were kind of metalcore. http://www.burst.nu/ http://www.myspace.com/burstrelapse
i also like heaven shall burn, caliban and lamb of god. thats about the extent of my likings for metalcore/hardcore.
i dont understand people who say that its for wusses. sure its not as fast or heavy and the vocals are sometimes decipherable, i.e not the cookie monster vocals, but its different to other forms of metal (if it is a form of metal, but thats a whole other argument). im glad i can enjoy both death/black/more extreme forms of metal and the more mainstream metal like metalcore.

As for metalcore, I enjoy just some metalcore (f.e. Silent Civilian is good, newest Trivium album is allright) but most of it is horrible to me. What turns me off most about metalcore is the horrible, horrible screams, especially Lamb of God's vocals really hurt my fucking ears, and the way metalcore singers seem to sounds exactly the same, just as the melodies they sing. The music itself is all pretty much the same too, the riffs are all melodyized thrash-riffs and most songs have 'brutal', screamed stanzas and a 'catchy', sung and melodic refrain.
I really, however, enjoy hardcore. Bands like Refused and Abhinanda and bands that fuse punk, thrash or other genres of music (f.e. rap) like Dead Kennedys, the Exploited, Biohazard, Blood For Blood.
Sludgecore is good, too (eyehategod) and hardcore fused with ska w1ns.
