I've been using mono jack cables for plugging my guitar into the amplifier for years and I suddenly got confused whether I should be using mono or stereo. hehe. I think it's mono, aye? Anyone know?

Also, I'm gonna try recording on my computer. In order to plug in my guitar into the soundcard, I need an adapter (1/4 to 1/8) (or one could buy a 1/4 to 1/8 cable instead of the adapter). My question is, does the jack on the adapter have to be mono or stereo?

im prety sure you use mono. at leasat thats what i use....

Thanks man! I was 75% sure I should use the mono adapters, and I searched for "instrument cables" (guitar cables) and they're all mono (1 black line, not 2)
So I assume the adapter should be mono too.

There's only one way to find out... try it!

Stereo means it has seperate left and right channels. A mono chord in a stereo jack will only make one speaker work. a mono jacks have one black ring aound it, stereo has 2.
