Ok, I've been playing guitar for about 2 years now. I need to know what kind of guitar and amp and whatever else I need to know to get a deathmetal sound. I have been to several sites reading reviews and they aren't helpful. So I need your help on recommending me the guitar gear to have that brutal really heavy guitar sound...

the only thing u can do to get a sound that fits to YOUR playing is to go out to a guitar store and start testing the amps they got. the guys here can help u to give u a direction but in the end u have to find it out for ureself. noone can make this decission for u ... and pls don't buy an amp just cuz some guys said it. go and try em out. all amps u should test were posted before. i can highly recommend to fuck arround with the engls alot. they own.

I don't know about Boss GT-6...
Do you really need all those efects, or do you use distortion only? I don't think anny of the sounds from the gt-6 is exelent, just quite good.

Good death metal distortion in the "cheap" price range for mortals like us, is Digitech Metalmaster, but you need more than a 15w amp to get the good sound with it.

the distortion on an engl savage could waste anything dist the gt 6 could throw at it. and most people(99%) don't actually need most of those effects, just pick a couple stomboxes that you're actually going to use. it will be cheaper and sound better that way.

I use my gt6 for effects mainly like delay, chorus, wah etc. It just gives things an edge and gives u a lot of variation. I dont use the effects every second of the day but it allows u to add a little to a song u create and stuff like that.

Guitar wise, my BCRich Platinum Series Warlock has never let me down. It looks fucking insane as well as sounding like an absolute dream. But if you want a ordinary looking guitar, ESP, Gibson or Jackson will also do the job single handedly (err should that be single frettedly :/ )

Amplifer wise, they arent kidding when they say Marshall is the sound of metal. Marshall, Randall or Peavey will be excellent.

Definite no-nos for everything gear wise, is Ashton. Two words why theyre cheap: THEY SUCK BALLS. (Also theyre produced here but thats beside the point! )

Pedal wise, nothing less than a Boss MT-2 or HM-1 (if you can find a HM-1 they are out of production youll need to buy it second hand) or a DigiTech Metal Master. Danelectro's food pedal series are an absolute joke. (black coffee = metal distortion, chilli hot dog = rock distortion, fish and chips = reverb etc etc)

I've got a jackson K3 and its heavy as fuck but plays just like a lead guitar so the best of both worlds. But it's gonna cost ya $650 and thats not pesos.
