Bloodbath Distortion

Can anyone tell me how they get that buzzsaw sound?, for example on the song 'Ways To The Grave' . Any pedal/multi-effects setting would be helpful...

the guitar sounds like that because dan swano was in charge of some of the mixing/producing

listen to the edge of sanity song "twilight" ...guitar tone sounds all strange on that too

personally i hate it

an octaver set to one octave below thickens it up quite a bit, use a lot of mids and bass

2 guitar tracks on each side

one on each side has a crunch sound and one with a quieter buzz-distortion

so theres actuall 4 guitar tracks at one time, you can hear it on a couple songs.

A single guitar would never be able to reproduce that sound (without effects)

I've tried an octave thingy an octave below, and the bass/mid, but it sounded nothing like it. I think it's more of a boost just above the mids.

4 guitars; great... Thats another thing I'd have to worry when I record some of my own stuff... Do they have any live stuff, or has anyone seen them live? (and how does that compare with the album sound).

On the 3 song Ep, the sound is different from the album from the 2003 ressurection album.

The sound of the EP is much better, it is pretty much the samesound Entombed and Dismember use. But on theire ressurection album is sounds stupid, there is still a little bit of the old sound in the guitar, butt actualley it really doesent sound like at guitar.

Ah yeah, that's right, they're like a side project. Soz, I only started listening to them. Anyway, I got that spleen-cracking sound out of my GFX-5 . I'm fucking cheering; it sounds bad ass through my amp.

I recorded a sample, but the treble was turned up (I was playing through my guitar amp), and I forgot to turn it down when recording it through my cheap-ass soundcard. On top of that, the mp3 encoding fucked it up even more, making it trebly and scratchy. Anyways, if you have an equaliser, turn the treble down.

[homer tone]: heh, yeah...

It sounds 100 times better through a guitar amp, man. That mp3 don't do it justice. It has that zing/ripping sound; as I said, sternum-crackingly brutal.
The thing is, I tried to get that distortion afew weeks ago but I gave up. Then I fucked around for half an hour the other day, and it was like a fucking fluke that I got that sound, since there are so many parameters you can combine.

I can post some settings for the gfx5, but depending on the type of amp you run it through, the equaliser would probably need tweaking anyway. And don't worry, I thought my Peavey Envoy lead channel had that chunky palm mute 'chung' sound, but now I can't go back to it; it sounds clean in comparison to the gfx5.

Anyway, I got that sound by using 'Metal' Distortion, 'Z Box' Cabinet, the Isolator, and the Equaliser. There were about 10 parameters I had to adjust.
It's a pity you can't use the Isolator and Compressor at the same time, the compressor gives a chunkier palm muting sound.

I think i am gonna buy the Zoom GFX-5, sometime soon, and it wouldt be nice to have the settings when i have it.

Another thing about the sound, is that it is also very close to the sound of Entombed and Dismember, theire sound is a little different, but from the sound you got out of the Gfx-5 there shouldt be no problem ajusting it a little further to get the entombed dismember sound.

Well, the thing was, I was mowing my lawn, you see, when I decided to get the weed-whacker out and start playing some bloodbath tunes on it.

Nah, seriously, I tried tweaking it a bit by adding an octave below, but it came out a bit crusty. The thing is, you can get alot of good sounds out of the gfx, but you can also get some bad ones if you don't know how to use it.
It's a bit like an amplifier... how do I explain this? OK. My CD walkman could have limited the maximum volume so that it never gets distorted, but then when you go to play a CD like Master Of Puppets which is lower in volume than a normal CD, you can't turn it up loud (even though MOP wouldn't distort at full volume like a louder CD would).
Or, similarly, they could have limited the volume (e.g. to 5/10) so when the bass boost is on, it doesn't get distorted. But with the bass boost off you can turn it up to 9/10 without distortion.

But they don't. So that's like the gfx, you can be an idiot and try to add maximum everything, but it won't do you any good. But the freedom is still there to max out individual parameters.
