Any of you tried that distortion pedal ? Id like to know if its any good and how it compares with other popular pedal like the MT-2 or the Digitech metal master.
I have an MT-2 but I'm thinking about getting a new distortion pedal.

how about step up to a nicer amp and just use its distortion instead, it's the best thing to do.

I don't think so right now. I spent quite an amounth of money on my Peavey XXX 40W combo not so long ago.
These days I find myself using my MT-2 distortion much more often than my amp distortion. I just think the distortion is better in low volume with the MT-2.

You bought a Peavey XXX and are not using the amp distortion? I'm not a big fan of that particular amp, but it is a decent and that should have decent distortion. if you would rather use a pedal than your amp's distortion maybe you should not have bought that amp. Most people here probably bought their amp because they love its distortion channels. Like all the guys that use the Engls, umm... other amps... RANDALL! I love my randall. I'm not saying buy a randall, but what I am saying is buy an amp with a distortion channel that you absolutely love.

yeah, if you're going to just use a distortion pedal, then you should just buy a cheap s.s. combo or something. no sense in wasting money on a tube amp if you don't like the distortion channel.

If you don't like the sound of your amp's distortion, you could always boost the signal with an overdrive pedal. And if you are cheap like me, the boss sd-1 is a great choice. It's not as good as the tubescreamer, but it does it's job nicely. If your skeptical, bring your amp in to a guitar shop and put different pedals in front of it.

Hey guys him not saying I don't like my amp. I think it rocks, and the distortion channel is great.
It's just that I like to use my mt-2 to to get a "At the Gates" style sound.
(In fact AtG actually used mt-2 in Slaughter of the Soul)
I was just wondering if the Metal Planet was any good.

I wouldn't buy another distortion pedal with the set-up that you already have. The MT-2 is one of the best and most versatile distortion pedals around and it's very durable with that sturdy casing. You already have good equipment so just fiddle around with different settings and stuff (it could take a while considering all the permutations that the MT-2 offers) until you find a distorted tone that you like.
