Killswitch Engage
Hey
If anyone has heard kse's new album 'end of heartache' its fucking awesome. The new singer came throught and he kicks ass. Adam however is not the drummer anymore and now they have a less 'intense' drummer. In irreversal on the first album adam uses the double bass petal continuously but in the new album they re-did irreversal but the drummer stick to a simpler style to prove it.
any opnions on the new band members or album?

The little I've heard is alright, but out of the other bands in their wave, they're the most emo influenced. I just hope they don't totally castrate themselves by trying to "evolve".

theres better metalcore bands out there like Maroon, Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, Destiny, Fear My Thoughts etc.
KSE is kinda history for me, I prefer their old stuff.

listen to KSE again, they're one of the founders of the metalcore genre, that falls under hardcore... IMO, they aren't even one of the better metalcore bands, but most people who are into metalcore love them, I don't, I prefer other metalcore bands, mentioned above.
you are spending enough time with the death metal fanboys though 
I think you're missing one important fact though, most people here listen to metal in general, be it black, death, trash, etc. but one thing they do have in common, they listen to METAL.
if your only reason to come here is KSE you're just in the wrong place. |

Umm... metalcore/hardcore/hXc or whatever you call it came from punk in the 80s. Punk bands that were influenced by the fast guitars/drums from the metal bands that were floating around in the 80s. I dont know what bands they were influenced by specifically, but metal nonetheless. KSE, as far as I know, arent a product of the 80s. I suggest a little research should be done before you try and 'school' the guys that already know what theyre talking about. |

KsE is not a very good metal band. they are an ok band but not a good METAL band. alive or just breathing being the only album ive heard (i dont own a copy ) it had some ok vocal parts but appeared to be just another phoocopied waste of paper, and CD.

Korn aren't metal. Its not very hard to understand. They may be influenced by metal, but that doesn't make them metal. If you look back on metal's history(serious metal, with few exceptions)adding black culture to your music, is the exact opposite of what metal did. It infact, removed it from its culture, and adopted the ways of classical composers, and made up their own original ideas. So, as a band, if you start adding rap elements, and poor musicianship, to the mix you start moving further and further away from what metal is supposed to be as music, and the metal culture.
I also think we need to have a list of outlawed bands. These kids who get MTV to tell them what metal is need to stay at MTV, instead of getting pissed off everytime they have alittle reality exposed to them.

I don't necessarily have anything against Death Metal musicians. In fact, typically, the only thing I really dislike about that genrè are the vocals. It's been a repeated experience for me to listen to a death metal band, start enjoying the music, then the vocals come in, and I'll switch it off. |

the new drummer is gay yes i agree, he ruins the band. the new vocalist howard jones is a fuck head and is so shit and should get outta the band.

First off, don't say a band sucks if they can play better than you can (except slipknot, they don't really play music). Now thats off my chest, Killswitch Engage's new album is there best yet (my opinion). I like other metalcore bands better, but the album has many great songs on it that I would put it in a list of great albums, not bands. I still like As I Lay Dying better.
It seems some of you don't like them because they're getting some attention. Didn't you stop to think that because alot of people like their music is the reason they're getting noticed. Same with Cradle of Filth and Lamb of God.

IMO Killswitch is a good band... maybe more hardcore than metal, which I notice ain't popular hereabouts.
If you're gonna rag on em, be accurate. Sure they don't take solos, which sucks IMO, and they probably have less skill than a lot of good death/black metal acts out there, but really, guitar chops aren't the point of Killswitch or metalcore/hardcore in general.
As for them "whining about being misunderstood"... wtf. Their lyrics are about personal strength and hope. Definitely not typical metal lyrics, but definitely not whiny either. And they're very different than nu-metal lyrics which ARE fucking whiny and self-pitying.
Yeah the vocals are overly sentimental sometimes, and the guitarwork is not the most impressive. IMO that's about the worst thing about Killswitch Engage, other than that I like em a lot. Good grooves, and for the most part excellent lyrics, IF you're into metalcore.

LMAO, all you people that claim they are into metalcore listen to the same bunch of bands, jezus, broaden your vision and be sure to check out more technical metalcore bands like Fear My Thoughts, Maroon or Arkangel.
KSE isn't all that great, but they do put on a good live show.
Converge's Jane Doe is simply one of the most original metalcore albums ever, that's no laugh, though some people just can't stand them, they are one of the few american metalcore bands I find worth listening too.
Zao well, good, but no dice, their live show is all jezus-jibber-jabber really, which is pretty annoying, their old albums where good, everything pre-parade of chaos isnt that good IMO. I do like the old stuff better then KSE's new stuff.

I have tried to find other metalcore bands, but I can't really find anything better than Between the Buried and Me, From Autumn to Ashes, Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, Coma Kai, From a Second Story Window, and As Hope Dies. I found some others like Our Dying Moment, Eversinceve, and A Day to Fall; but its all the same. I like metalcore that has a lot of death metal influences and melody. I have been wondering if Terminally Your Aborted Ghost is any good.

I like The Agony Scene as well. I was kinda disapointed when I heard Paint It Black though, I was hoping for a Rolling Stone cover (and I don't like the Stones).
