All those orchestras and junk; they're all just giant cover bands, 'cause they don't even write their own stuff. They spend all their time playing other people's music. They're no better than pop musicians who sing other people's songs.

I agree with Atif on the fact that no one is making great classical music, they are just covering shit we have heard before. When ever you turn on the classical station, its always some orchestra covering some composer's work... Why arn't there people like Bach or Trevoiskialkejlaimelakmw anymore? Lack of geniuses or people trying to write?

If every orchestra wrote their own shit, then the classical industry will crumble just as the rock and metal era did.
And there's a difference between us musicians "covering" a classic, and a metal band covering a rock song. Metalheads do it because it sounds good and is fun to play, we do it for the sake of an allegory. And Darko, there are TONS of contemporary music that exists, you just haven't heard/found it yet.

Can you name a few? I listen to the classical station alot and it gets boring hearing alot of the same stuff...or stuff that I don't like much. I can't find a certain orchestra that I can rely on because 90% of the time they are covering someone so they don't have a certain perticular sound.
Send me a PM of a few good contemporary ones. Espically a orchestra that uses mostly if not only strings.

off the top of my head  ... Wellll, the last concert I was in was nothing but contemporary music. Cindy McTee, a doc at my uni wrote a famous "Ballad." It's a orch. piece, badass I must say, and later she wrote a wind ensemble arrangment for us "the band" to play...wasn't as good but still was cool. Michael Daugherty's Bells for Stokowski is very cool. It has a nice string bass part I had fun playing(look up his website). Oh, you said all strings didn't you...right, I'm in a wind band so my strings rep. is hazy. The Zampa Overture by Ferdinand Herold and Ruslan & Ludmilla by Mikhail lVanovich Glinka...but I don't think those are very modern....

How bout just not destroying them... Hold the cd by the edges, don't scratch the picture or the clear side, wash your hands before reading the linear notes so you don't get fingerprints or oil on the pages, and be careful taking the notes out of the case. Oh, and ALWAYS keep them in alphabetical order...

Haha yeah. Im sure they stayed on for a few miles though. Probably when I got on the freeway they flew off. I hope they fall into the right hands and mabye get someone into metal. I'm going to take inventory tomorow, but I know that I have lost the fallowing:

I probably lost about 4 more..but have to many CDs to go through and I am tired. I am contimplating on wether to just burn all but Cephalic, which I will rebuy.
