Some of you can't seem to choose between 6- or 7-string guitars.
Well you might wanna try this.

Personally I prefer the low-growl-sound of a 7-string, but the feel of a 6-string. That's why I'm gonna order Gibson Powerlines -strings.
They're optimized for dropped tuning, e.g. D or C. I haven't tried 'em yet, but I will. They should work much better than with dropped regular strings, cause they sound like crap. I'll let ya know then.

I'm gonna buy an Epiphone Goth SG with a hard case and Gibson Powerlines, in a matter of days. The pickups should be good enough for now. It should sound fuckin sweet, I'll let ya know afterwards.

Until then, go breed some hate.

What do you mean by "regular strings"? And whats so much better about these strings your talking about?

Mine sound fine. I just buy a single 52 and add it to a pack of earnie ball slinky's.
So i actually have 4 coil strings instead of 3. I like it more this way. Gives a MUCH heavier sound. Cant go wrong with that.

i should also add: you can tune any strings down to drop D so why would you want special ones for it?

I use "regular" strings quite a lot... Though it depends on my money situation...
Some cheap shits sound quite good too and theyre not too bad for downtunings either...

...Well actually you're right. It kinda depends. Some guitars with dropped tuning sound great with standard strings, but some sound like shit coming out of the amp. I've tried several guitars with standard strings and dropped tuning, e.g. the RG370 sounded quite sweet, but try the same thing with a Strat... And by "regular strings" I mean the standard strings. Although there are many other string sets which sound great...

What these strings are supposed to help, is to get rid of that muddy tone.
Tone is the keyword in these strings. Or they could be complete bullshit?
Anyway, I'll check 'em out.

it depends on the guitar, on my epiphone sg .9s tuned down even just one step flop around like dead fish


and youre going to want to get your neck adjusted after you put on those powerlines

Thants probably because some of your guitars arent set up to handle the low dropped tuning, while the others arent as touchy

If you like the low end of a 7 string, but want that in a 6 string, buy your self a baritone, how hard can it be.

Also, i have no problem whit my Warlock in low tune, i use 012 or 013 stings and i am always playing in B or i A.

i have a bari, a 6, and a 7-string. you dont need powerlines to tune to b, you can get a set of the new ernie ball sets, the beefy slinky's(11-54) or the not even slinky's(12-56), for half the price of the gibson strings. if you want the low end of a 7, but the feel of a 6, get a bari, they fuckin rock.
