Changing Strings Often
I was wondering how often you guys changed your strings.
I go through maybe 2 packs a year. And how do you know when the best time is to change them.

i was going through a set of strings every week, because they were breaking, as vengence the strings were on for about 8 or 9 months till i just changed them
i usually leve them on for as long as i can then change them if i have some kind of special reason (i.e. i have to play somewhere)

At the end of the day, it depends on how much you play - but you should never leave really shitty strings on a guitar for too long, as they'll start to tarnish the frets (maybe corrode them too, but I don't know for sure).

I usually keep them on until the sound is flat, they dont stay in tune, or they break.

Well, the guitar i use for my band has had the same strings on since the summer.....but the guitar gets played once a week for a couple hours.
My other guitar gets strings changed about every 3 months if i remember.

I'm fine with ernie ball's most of the time, I've tried some others but allways came back to ernie balls for some reason.

Dont go with Ghs, although they are good for downtuning They suck at keeping in tune and sounding right.

Floyd roses are bitches to set up so only like 4-5 times a year for me (unless I break a string or I need work done on the guitar).

I still dont understand why everyone has so much problems with floyds. Is 15 min to change a set of string considered a hassle? anf if you keep the same string guage and replace one string at a time the bridge should go outtta wack. I suggesr you get a tremsetter. It will help alot.

i change once every 1-2 months, depending on how much shit has accumulated on them, but i am getting into the habit of wiping down my strings when i am done playing, makes em last longer. and about the string gauges, depends on how low you tune. i use 10-46 for standard, though i am gonna start using 10.5-48, i use 12-54 for C/C#, and i use 13-60 for B, although i am going to be moving up to 13-64.
