They are one of my favorite death metal bands, and I like stuff like Nile, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Old Man's Child, well---I could keep going but I won't.

Barnes sucks, he sounds like hes dying! I think Six feet under has gone to shit. Or maybe they always have been and its just that my taste changed. I used to like them, but now i dont like them at all. Most death metal is not doing it for me anymore. The few death metal bands i still like are Nile, Cryptopsy(of coarse), Cannibal corpse(sometimes), Morbid angel, old diecide, and my favorite God dethroned, oh and for the people who consider Death to be death metal, which im not complaining about BTW, I like them too, a lot. I consider them thrash though. Anyway, All the others ive heard dont mean anything anymore. And six feet under, to me, is especially bad. Much too boring for me.

i like them because they bring simplicity to a genre that's becoming more and more technical.

I agree Amerika the Brutal isn't their greatest moment, but Ten Ton Alien said exactly what I think........death metal is becoming so technical now that alot of the bands coming out sound like a blurry mess....and what is wrong about playing simple riffs as long as they sound good? Of course I anticipate to catch some flak from you guys because I know alot of you don't like SFU.

Simple can be good, but in SFU's case i think it's bad. Sure their music can probably be played by most guitarists with about a year's practice if not a little more (which is fine....i'm still peaved that i can't play 3/4 of Martyr's stuff), but there's not much originality or ingenuity.

I don't think a band has to be technical to be good......they just have to be original with their sound, which is why my favorite bands are Immolation, Cephalic Carnage, Gorguts, Nile, Martyr and bands like (but also unlike) them.

I applaud creativity, and SFU has none of it. Their sound doesn't please me whatsoever, i find them boring and overdone.

And yet the most untechnical peice of shit, no talent bands are sitting in a mansion loathing in money because untechnical music is the style nowadays. Bands like Blink 182, good charlotte and other shit bands like that make millions of dollars off easy ass little power chord riffs. So basically nobody likes six feet under because they are untechnical AND nobody (non metal heads) have heard of them. That makes for one killer peice of shit combo.

six feet under is just a shitty band, all because of barnes, he a shitty vocalist. btw, though i may get a lot of flak for this, but i think blink 182 is a damn good band, not the pop punk type shit they write, i.e. "whats my age again", but their more emotional shit, like adams song, they have good melodies. but barnes has never been a good vocalist in my opinion, corpsegrinder kills barnes.

Six feet under is just boring. There was a time when I listened to their Maximum Violence album, but it just got so boring I couldnt really stand it. I am into more dynamic music, something with a high technical mastery. If I am going to listen to simplistic music I'll play some Obituary - they are more interesting.

I saw the cover once, so i picked it up for a closer look, after about 2 seconds i fealt embarassed to even be holding it, there was no time to see the album title or songs, and there never will be. Go & listen to 'The Bleeding' or 'Tomb of the Mutilated' & you'll see why people just aren't impressed with Chris Barnes trying half as hard as they know he could.

Fischer "has a voice still"? Barnes sings very 'silent' and relaxed.. What's bad about that, they created amps for something.

SFU knows how to play guitar I was standing 2 feet from their player (live gig recently) and his solo's were decent, and his riffing is simple but effective. If you can't headbang to SFU you might have a serious problem.

But Cannibal Corpse is very brutal and headbangable too, I agree.
