Got my new ESP yesterday!
I picked it up finally, waiting for it to come in took forever. ESP LTD KH-602.
I'm not looking for anybody to say, "That guitar sucks" or "That guitar rocks." i'm just posting my good fortune. Since i have seen various posts of ppl saying the LTD models suck. But hey, i'm very happy with it. The body work is nice. Frets look great. And I love how the EMG 81's sound going through my Randall! Original Floyd Rose awesome. I've never had a Floyd before, so this is my chance to learn all the fun tricks. I starting playing around to learn how to do harmonic screams.
And thats about it. I'm happy.

Good to see that it arrived in playable condition. I've heard all the horror stories and seen a couple in person with ESP LTD's. I'd suggest getting it professionally setup to the tuning of your choice and getting the action dropped down to as low as it can go. You wouldn't believe how the tone of a guitar can go from being good to great with a quick professional setup. If you know how to adjust the neck and intonate the guitar yourself, go for it.

The title should be changed to "Got my new LTD yesterday" Theirs a big difference between a ESP and a LTD

BLS, yea there is a difference between a ESP and LTD. About 800 bucks, or something like that. Besides that I suppose the american touch that it gets as being made in the US. However the workmanship on my LTD is very nice and I'm happy with it.
About setting it up and inotating it, all that jazz. I already worked on it a bunch.
The truss rod needed a very minor adjustment. Had a little bit too much releif for me. String height is good, about 1/16" on treble strings, and a little over 1/16" for the bass strings. Then after I got finished adjusting everything to my taste it threw the inotation off, so i fixed that. Took about 20 minutes. Now it sounds even better than when i originally got it home. Also raised the pickups a little bit.
For the tuning, I think i will leave it in standard and keep putting 9's on it. There is a lot of stuff that I like to play in E. So for D, and Drop D stuff i can just use my SG. I never put my guitar lower than D, I don't like how it sounds lower than C (regardless of string guage). The only song i'm willing to down tune lower is C# for Black Sabbath, Children of the Grave.
Besides that I really like the string spacing on it. I play more accurately with the ESP rather than SG. It could also be the different feel that is causing that.
Oh yea, and Darko. What i was referring to with my comments earlier was that sometimes people come on the board and are like, "I JUST BOUGHT THIS, IS IT GOOD??!?!?!" Its pointless to ask what everybody thinks after you already got it. If you have anything to say that's cool, I just don't want you to feel like I'm twisting your arm for advice on it.

eh. hold your horses, aren't ltds made in korea? where crap ibanez's gio's are made? (actually I think thats the same factory the new samicks come from..)
ltds sure as hell aren't american thats for sure.
main difference is that ESP's have way better hardware and building quality, also they have a completely different feel IMO. but hey, you pay for it too.

I see.
I don't like LTDs at all. Only played a few ESPs that I liked. Sounds like a good guitar though.

I think there all made in one of samicks huge slave labor factory's. Epiphones are probably made their too... and squiers. Basically any shitty guitar, samick is responsible for.

hey now, don't diss all ibanez's, you obviously haven't played a prestige no comparrison to an ltd or epi...
and BLS, yeah, even Jacksons run off that line if I'm not mistaken. someone should bomb that factory so there won't be any more of that crap

sorry again but i don't like the prestige as well. maybe it has a better hardware and stuff but it got a boring feeling and the sustain isn't good at all. for me this guitar still belongs to "crappy shit u should'nt buy" category. i'd rather go for a gibson LP studio for the same price. but hey, thats only my opinion.

yeah, that's right, its an opinion.
I've played about ten Gibsons and only liked one of them, they do have a good sustain but a so-so sound with stock pu's and they weight ten tons. also I can't get used to the neck on LP's, Sg's seem to do better for me though. I do like floyds too...
I love the original edge trems on RG's, which do have really good sustain, packed with some dimarzio's its just one of my favorite axes.
anyways, everybody has a different taste in guitars, Ibanez's are slim and fast guitars, gibsons are more like bar brawlers.
coming back to the original thread thing, I've played a bunch of ESP's and even a custom horizon once, great stuff but I can't afford a new one, maybe I'll get lucky on the german Ebay and score a used one in the future. the LTD's I've played wheren't really good, the deluxe models where okay but they don't compare to US esp's... same goes for Jackson, they got the crap series and the american select series...

ye i played some of the usa series 2 and they are nice. it's like with any other label. cheap guiitars have cheap hardware and stuff and so they will never be compareable to the high end ones. when i started playing i bought a rg 320 and i was so happy to own this one. at this point of my life the guiitar was ok. i guess the longer u play and the more guitars u test the better u will see diffrences as far as sound and quality is concernd to build up ure own opinion. so its what, how long, and how often u play ....and since it is the expierience of the player it's all subjektive .
and def the so-so sound prolly comes from the pickups... i dont like the original ones in lps either. go test one with seymours( sh-8 or sh-10) or emgs like the zakk wylde sig.
and ye ...somtimes i miss a tight floyd

Yeah, its the stock pu's which aren't so hot, a friend of mine plays an LP with an SH-4 and SA-1 (neck) in it and it sounds better, but its not quite there yet.
an SA-8 invader would do good in an LP, yeah I can imagine that.
I've played the zack wylde signature one, which feels the same like a normal lp but it seemed a bit thicker (body) and it has some more sustain. I don't really like EMG's though, I'de rather have s-d's for that matter. the Epiphone version of the zack wylde model is crap, I know a guy who thinks he's zack wylde and bought the epi version since he didn't have enough to spend after getting a jcm stack. emg-hz's are dogshit.
