Esp Ltd- love/hate
I was in a guitar shop last week with some of my mates and i was lookin at some fairly decent esp ltds. And they were like, esp's are shit and i was like, the cheap ones are crap but some of the mid priced ones aint to bad. Anyways we later went on net and i showed them, wat I thought to be a decent esp http://www.music123.com/ESP-MH-400-i126067.music
Anyway they still said it was shit even though its mahogany body, has active emgs, thru neck, grover tuners etc which i think is pretty kickass for a $599 guitar. Anyways what u guys think bout esp ltd's?

well it has emg 81's which kinda binds you to one tone IMO, but if you like it, no problem. good pu's for metal in general, the LTD's I played wheren't all that bad, the high range EC I played was actually pretty good, but not versatile in sound.
also it looked great, it was one of those deluxe things.
they're not great guitars, I'de rather get a used RG prestige or an old 80's Kramer or something. if you're set on ESP/LTD save up some cash and get a used ESP from ebay or whatever, ESP's are way better. I've played the ESP KH and the Haneman slayer signature thing. loved the kahler bridge one it. the hardware and building quality is just so much better on ESP's compared to ltd's.. its like epiphone and gibson, day and night that is.
I'de advise you to look into your options just a bit more, maybe look into used stuff, I've bought all my gear used, everything I own, both my bass and guitar rigs and all my instruments. just be sure to get quality stuff, not crap.

Yeah a friend of a friend just bough one of thoes $500 LTDs with neck though and EMGs, hated the tone due to EMGs, but it just felt cheap. It didnt play very nice. Its hard to explain but there was just something missing.

The ESPs "LTDs" I've played pretty much blew. Those were in the $200 range. I played a guitar like the one in the link at a music store and it ruled. It did have a Floyd Rose lincensed bridge, which is not that great. I think if I had $600 to burn on a guitar then I would go with a nice Jackson, or a Washburn.
I like washburns a lot. That is my opinoin!

my friend has an ltd and its not bad for a beginners guitar but if your looking for something better go for the esp. i havent really had the chance to play an esp but from what ive seen and heard they are actually good guitars. i still prefer jackson and gibson though.

I don't mind them but I always feel that either the neck is too wide or the strings are to far apart. The action is always nice though.

The LTDs are more for beginners but the ESPs are pretty nice. A hell of alot of metal players use an ESP at one time or another.

Well thanks everyone for this thread, I have the same kind of problem.
I'm buying a new €500-600 heavymetal-guitar, and I'm kinda interested on Epiphones and LTDs, especially Goth SG, F-250 and KHV MMV-04. Problem is that they're all so different, although I've done some serious research on those. They've all got different materials etc. I've tested recently like ten guitars and these three stood out from them, so they're not really crappy.
Example, the KHV has Duncans, SG has Gibsons, and the F has EMG-HZ and H-4. They all sound alright, but what do you think of 'em? Or maybe I'll buy EMG 81/85-set later...
I'll probably have to decide by the looks?
Anyway, I'd like your opinions... Please... Check 'em out.

Oh, sorry, my bad...
So here's some vocabulary for the first one:
nimike = model
valmistaja = manufacturer
ostoskoriin = buy this product
sähkökitara = electric guitar
näitä saa jälleen! = available again!
suuri kuva = large photo
kysy lisää = ask something/feedback
otherwise the specs are in english... if you don't understand something, go ahead and ask.

Yeah... I'm probably going for the V (Ltd KHV), not because u guys like it , but because its so damn great... I tried some very-cheap ESPs and used ESPs, but this just felt so great.
Yes, the ALexi Laiho Signature ESP (RV-350 AL) is based on this KHV-series. I must admit that it's one reason why I'm buying this guitar, cause Alexi Laiho is a god and CoB kick ass!!! If you quickly view these guitars, you won't recognize them, cause they look identical. Only thing is that the AL costs like 3700 € (4399 $)...
Here's the Alexi Laiho model (click on "suuri kuva" to get a larger photo)
http://www.musamaailma.fi/bandikama...rv_350_al.phtml
btw CANNIBALCORPSE, the Ltd's USD price: 633 € = 753 $

First off, Musamaailma is Finnish , but they can ship outside of Finland. Contact sales@musamaailma.fi and ask. They can deliver every ESP/LTD model, but it might take as long as 6 months. Assuming you're talking about the Alexi Laiho -ESP (4399$), I haven't found it anywhere else. It's probably not available in America, unless you order it from Japan or something.
About the LTD (753$), it's a brand new '04 model, so it might be hard to find. MusiciansFriend has some LTDs, but I couldn't find this one.
