All In The Name Of A.L.S

This was just a poem i wrote for school. Im 100% amateur at writing songs and i dont really know how to write metal. Its about Jason Becker. It probably totally sucks.

You took his incredible talent and life away,
Now he’s nearly dead in a wheelchair paralyzed,
If he could he would still kneel down and pray,
But his only communication is a computer and movements of his eyes.

He could blaze across a fret board with such melody,
You’d swear you were listening to heaven,
Criticizing him would be considered felony,
His rating out of ten would be eleven.

Yet all this simply taken away in the name of A.L.S
But he still inspires countless people including me,
Even in his few years of fame there was success,
This musical drought would be over with a cure don’t you see?

I hope this makes you so guilty that you break down and cry,
And you sit down for eternity asking and wondering why.

Okay, obviously this person has made a tremendous impression on you so share with me who he is ? I'm waiting in anticipation to see my hero from "Somewhere in Time" walk in another romance again. "Superman " was okay for Christopher Reeves, but SiT will always be dearer to my heart. I listen to the soundtrack quit frequently. His autobiography was excellent , too , BTW. So who is this person you're talking about. Your song has me intrigued so that's a positive in it's favor. Without knowing the subject I felt the passion and emotion , the pain of his disabilities, and the anger that it was preventable.

Details! MAN ! I NEED DETAILS !!
Thanks ! And sorry if I rattled your cage there a little.

I also thought your wording and structure was very good. I really think you should write more often. It looks like you may have the knack for it.

I agree, I liked it very much.
The part that really got to me is how you talked about they way he used to be and how he played guitar, and even though you might be smiling when you recall the way he used to play, it strikes me as sad and slightly haunting because its all in the past now, apparently thrown away by someone else's decisions. I'd also like to know more, do tell.

Oh my. I went to http://web.ask.com/redir?bpg=http%3...om%2f&qte=0&o=0 I could only read part of his mom's article. I got a big knot in my stomach when she talked about his humor and how he put heart into all that he played. I know exactly how she feels in that respect , but I can't imagine seeing my own child with that. ALS ( Lou Gehrig's Disease ) is a horrible thing. And then I started listening to "Altitudes" at your suggestion. I have to say that just when the first note played I knew I was going to love it. I've got tears in my eyes. My God what an awesome guitarist. He seems to be right up there with Sat and Vai. Marvelous. You got me hooked. Gotta ask Wally if he's heard of him.
I saw that he'd played with David Lee Roth and I wouldn't swat a bull in the ass with him . I think he's a macho showboat so anything to do with him I don't bother with. I like Van Halen, just not him.
But my goodness this guy is wonderful. Thank you SOOOO much for the intro to him.

BUT !!!! Now I can properly add a comment about your piece. I think the only part I'd think of changing is the guilt line next to the last line simply because the disease isn't anyone's fault that I rememeber. Other than that you got some good stuff there. Did you happen to send it to him?

I'm listening to a live blues thing with Marty Friedman now. All I gotta say is I wish I could write like he could play. And I hope to goodness he can stillproduce some good stuff. It's gotta be hell trying to keep your mind going when your body doesn't want to.

The last two lines are basically going with the first line as if someone had given it to him. I don't know what gave him it or who he got it from but its a poem written to whatever or whoever it is that did. Maybe some day God or Buddha, or whatever supreme being is actually real will read it and realize what he has done. I might change it though not many people will understand. I kind of like it though.
