We have some good ones in the UK though: Jack The Ripper (many historians think the Ripper was James Maybrick, who lived in Liverpool and who is buried in the cemetary near to where I used to live), The Yorkshire Ripper (Peter Sutcliffe), The Moors Murderers (Ian Brady and Myra Hindley) and last, but no means least, Harold Shipman.

Shipman got tried for 15 murders but it's thought that he killed over 250. He was a GP in Hyde (part of Manchester) and he befriended his elderly patients in order to get them to incorporate him into their wills. As soon as he was written into their will he'd give the patient a lethal injection and then mark the death certificate with "died of natural causes". He was repeating this, unnoticed, for years before his evil (but fascinating) ways were discovered a couple of years back. He got 15 life sentences but hung himself in his cell earlier this year so that his wife could get his pension. That's a very ironic end: his wife benefits from his death as he did from the death of his patients.

You guys should check out some books by Michio Kaku. I own 2 of his; "Hyperspace" and "Beyond Einstein: The Quest for the Theory of the Universe". Both books are pretty killer, but Hyperspace is a little bigger and talks about more things. He's one of today's leading theoretical physicist working on the superstring theory, and i find his books mesmerizing. My favorite physics author.
